My pet peeve....no signage and dispatch that gives one piece of information at a time! Give me all the information I need to know right from the start. Picking up or delivering and find out they need a contact name. x(

how about they have moved and still have the old adress in and haven't change it and it's been over a year and you tell people about it and still don't change it

or you go on a military base and they only give you a street adress and no bldg number, or what the command is
and for get to tell ya have to go to truck control first

I have to laugh when I read all of these posts. What most of you don't understand is that your all spoiled...LOL. Talk to someone who has been doing this for 15-20 plus years and you will see how much easier it is now. Before computers, laptops, gps and routing software, You just bought yourself an atlas and when you got to the city you were delivering in, you either bought a local map or got on the cb and asked for local information. If you happened to have a phone # for the customer that was just gravy!!! BTW... thats when people used to answer a phone!

But my pet peeve is the city street signs that are so small, dark or weather beaten that you can't read them at night or the one's hanging above the road next to the new l.e.d. traffic signals that are so bright and give off a glare so you still can't see them unless you stop right under them.

Fr8shaker: you left out the part about walking 8 miles to school every day, in 3 ft of snow, uphill both ways, etc...:p

This all reminds of going into New Orleans last year where all the signs where gone and the business was set up temporarily else where. Lots of patience required and a good GPS as the cell phone didn't work down there either.

I'm spoiled, I admit it ;)

A buddy of ours pulls tankers and he calls our truck a "freight capable RV" :p

I like the one's who don't mark the shipping door, so you get to circle the building twice then get out of your truck and trudge around in the snow and 20 degree temps pulling on locked doors until you finally find the one thats unlocked that leads into the middle of the plant and people ignore you as you wander around aimlesly until some foreman yells at you for being in the wrong place, then tells you in that condesending way that you need to be on the other side of the plant. (of course it goes without saying that dispatch has called 12 times and your Q.C. has 3 messages all asking "where are you...they're looking for you" and you want to scream " I'M RIGHT HERE LADY...STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE @#$%! PLANT O.K!

And to go right along with the above statement....each shipper/receiver thinks you should know THEIR system even if you've never been there before x(

How about the company with the big ego that names their driveway after themselves and uses it for a street address. ask someone for directions and they never heard of that street.:-(

When my wife picked out our house I said what road is it on, she said King James Dr. About a quarter of a mile after Shannon Dr.
That was my first name and last name along with my proper title.
