My first week running the new truck

Orientation ran for a full week due to some technical issues. I had proactively notified some of the express centers I'd be available Friday. I had 3 load offers in about a half hour window. One needed a team and they didn't look that I was solo before calling me. I'd love to have had it because it went within a couple hundred miles of home. I accepted one picking up Sat. morning right there in Rockford and delivering Sun. evening in St. Paul. It was not a huge amount of miles but with 2 stops it paid well.

The next load was back to Rockford and then deliver over near Holland, MI. That was followed by a p/u in Grand Rapids delivering in Columbia, MO. From there I had a p/u on the west suburb of St. Louis going to Ft. Campbell, KY. My last run picked up 10 miles away just across the TN. border and delivered south of Nashville.

There were a few offers in between that weren't feasible because of runs I was aleady on. There was only one offer that I really didn't want because of too low money and location and it wouldn't work out so I didn't have to worry about it.

I'm making about 14% more per loaded mile and doing less d/h miles so I'm quite satisfied so far. Of course one week isn't enough to tell anything but better it started with a good week than a bad one.

Just curious did you switch companies or just get a new truck or both?
I wasn't sure because you said you DH is lower and your making 14% more. Is this because the new truck has an extra axle?

Thanks

I did both. I decided to run the new truck with Landstar. I'd been interested in them all along so I went to them and left the old truck at the old company. This way I can do as valid a comparison as possible comparing apples and oranges. It will be better than no comparison at all though.

Might be difficult unless the trucks are equally comparable. We have different trucks that all are speced differently whether temp control, weight capacity or size.
If one has a tag and one doesn't, that might make a difference over a period of time. It won't necessarily mean the truck is more profitable.
Just an observation
