My father was a war protester.

Post that are off-topic and/or violate the Code of Conduct have been removed.

I disagree with your assessment but this dude will abide with your decision.

Just for your information as to the off topic part. The course of discussion turned to incidents of protesters spitting on returning vets and the question of "did that really happen?" was posed.

Someone reported that a member here had made claims that it happened to them, and after some research several posts were found that contradicted each other.

So it clearly was on the topic, now the other part where a member posts contradictions in different threads is another ball of wax. I was also supportive of the member initially and wanted to read of his experiences. It wasn't until another member pointed out that it may not be truthful.

In closing, I will abide by your decision and drop it from the discussion here but just so you know it reeks of protecting a liar and if that is the perception you want to achieve then who am I to stop you. I'm just a delicious sammich.

Yes, I know.

Someone reported that a member here had made claims that it happened to them, and after some research several posts were found that contradicted each other.
Someone noted in Post #4 that it would be nice to hear from vets of that era on the subject, and Layout specifically was asked in Post #11 to comment. You echoed that sentiment in Post #14, and then again literally echoed it in Post #15. That should have been the end of it until if and when Layout decided to comment here in this thread. Thus far he has not.

So it clearly was on the topic,
Sorry, no.

...now the other part where a member posts contradictions in different threads is another ball of wax.
Correct, since this thread isn't a thread about other threads.

I was also supportive of the member initially and wanted to read of his experiences. It wasn't until another member pointed out that it may not be truthful.
Supportive of WHAT member? You mean the member who isn't even participating in this thread?

In closing, I will abide by your decision and drop it from the discussion here but just so you know it reeks of protecting a liar and if that is the perception you want to achieve then who am I to stop you. I'm just a delicious sammich.
As far as I can tell, no one has lied in this thread.

Dang Turtle Lighten up even the cops allow 5 to 7 over the limit.:)
You gotta admit that post was funny.
First of all, it wasn't entirely my decision. If it was, the decision may have been different. As to the humor of it, pulling something from outside of a thread and inserting into the current thread for the expressed purpose of attacking an EO member is not funny. It's quite serious (and in the context of the thread, incredibly ironic). Under the Code of Conduct it falls under the category of a possible immediate and permanent ban.

Is the RED font a law enforcement intimidation tactic?
No. A color other than default is to let people know, without question, when a Moderator or Administrator is speaking in an official capacity, especially those moderators who regularly participate as a member. It's the standard and method used in many Web forums.

If post blue always if I could. I like blue. But more of a navy. Not royal or baby. And no periwinkle for sure. Some days I may feel like midnight, though, if the mood was right.
LOL!!

Speaking of great American protests today is the anniversary of King's I have a Dream speech. I see there have been some marching in DC today to commemorate that historic day. It is a good day for reflection on how far we have came and how far we have yet to go. Have a blessed day everyone.
