My comments to Petro

I submitted the following comment on their website ... perhaps if you agree with me, you might also comment to them?

Over the years, and I have a lot of them out here, I always enoyed stopping at Petro and checking my blood pressure.

Sometime ago, you removed those BP machines. I heard it was because of a dispute with the provider over a service charge.

Not knowing if this is indeed fact, I would like to urge you once more place them back in the truckstops.

As TA/Petro promote healthier foods and menus, seems to me this is a natural addition to the "healthy" line up in your marketing program?

I'm inclined to think that I wouldn't be using a BP checker in a truckstop. I'm not a germaphobic, but why take chances.

Wal-Mart and a lot of drug stores and grocery stores have them. The local Sam's here has a unit that checks BP, Eyes, body mass, and gives you a read out. They will even email the results to you. Jerry Lee

We thought - briefly - that the truckstops could pare down their game rooms and put in a couple of low-impact exercise machines; have a card reader attached to the unit, the user would swipe their card to use and accumulate points. However, the truckstop's liability probably wouldn't be worth it; not to mention maintenance and repair of machines.

We also thought the stops could put walking trails around their perimeters, but then not only do maintenance issues crop up again, but also the bureaucracy of the land usage, are there easements, etc.

So we just have to bring our exercise mat, bands, and walk amongst the semis ourselves.

Maybe the truckstops could universally post low-impact exercise ideas on the walls near their restaurants? We have seen a few that already have.

Actually, there are several Petros and T/A locations that have one of the 3 excercise chains in them, with more being planned, such as Rolling Strong gym, etc.You have a great idea, though, tearing down the game rooms, unless they have Space Invaders or Galaxia in them...lol

TA has a list of 'walking trails' at some of their locations - might be on their website as well.

I know the TA in Effingham listed the walking trail and had healthy eating and exercise tips posted on the wall outside the reading/computer lounge. This was after he and I had our groundbreaking idea. Now we think they were reading our thoughts...gonna have to start wearing aluminum foil hats on the road.
