Stopped at Speedco and had oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter changed on my Rigmaster. I told them it takes 3 quarts of oil. They do their thing and the guy comes to get me and tell me it's ready to start "but may need some oil drained out first". They proceed to drain some off and then check it and it's right on the full mark. It refuses to start. We try a few times but it just won't fire.
Problem(s) are filling oil too fast causing oil to flow over the camshaft and into the cylinder and/or filling oil too full causing it to get into the cylinder. Once either of these things happen the only solution is to remove the glow plugs and then turn the engine two or three revolutions to push the oil out of the cylinder. After doing this it fires right up.
Craig already pointed out the too fast problem the other day and today while getting it corrected I learned of the overfilling problem leading to the same failure.
I had it fixed at:
LANDMARK INTERNATIONAL TRUCKS
4801 Rutledge Pike P.O. Box 6539
Knoxville, TN, 37914
Phone: 865-546-9781
They did a GREAT job. They not only corrected this problem but also located and tightened loose clamps causing a very slow coolant leak as well as inspecting the entire unit. They are very well trained on these units and know just what they are doing with them. They originally installed this particular unit but I had no interaction with them until today. I am impressed with how serious they are about their Rigmaster business. They currently have a 10 ranking with me and I will do my best to have them work on my unit any time it needs service if at all possible.
