Just don't do it! Even if you don't get caught, the stress and fear of being discovered it's enormous...

I drove OTR as a Hiker/Vehicle Transporter for multiple companies. There is nothing like having a peace of mind when running legally. Moreover, that is a major distraction to your driving that is eliminated. I agree wholeheartedly.

In a perfect world I would team with my wife. But she already has a career she loves and worked hard to get--and we have the student loans to prove it lol.

I think some of the loads I have been getting are for teams. Twice I've been late to a pick up because they would want me to drive to say Michigan to pick up, and then drop off in New York by 8am the next day.

That wasn't possible for me. I drove my 11 hours and then went to sleep. 10 hours later I was back at it. I hated being late but hey, rules are rules.

All in all the fleet owners tell me they are happy with my performance and are impressed by my work ethic. They just hope I get a better cell phone provider than T-Mobile lol.

But yeah I can definitely see the benefits of teams. But I'll continue to drive solo for as long as I can. If teams ever become mandatory, I hope to have learned the business well enough to go buy my own straight or van.

I absolutely will not do teams.
I appreciate all that you've posted. I'm learning so much from reading your post. I'm in the research stage of getting into the Expediting Business.
I'm currently making a $1000 a wk now and I want to increase my earnings weekly, monthly, yearly, etc.
Do you have any advice on how you got started, the do's and the donts?? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, and GOD BLESS YOU

What type of vehicle do you want to drive? Are you currently an employee or a contractor? Do you currently have benefits?

In order to keep $1000 you will have to earn at least $2000.

I am researching on different companies to work for. I can not afford my own vehicle right now so I must work for someone.

Treadmill , I talked to a company and they said team drivers make $800 each ( work 3 wks and 1 wk off ). Is this true ?

I know the company you are referring too and they are being very conservative. It works for them - so when teams generate more - they get positive feedback.

My comments were more directed at same household teams in ST & TT in expediting.

Is that good for starting out ,since they are paying for everything - truck , gas and etc. ( I know I have to pay for my own food ) .

If you're making $1000 per week, would that be $48-$52 K per year ?
Any paid benefits ? vacations ? Holidays ?

A newbie none same household would be very unusual to hit these numbers.
I think more typical in a straight will be high $30's to low $40's.
Not saying you couldn't do $50,000 but IMHO it would be rare.
And you'll have costs you probably don't have now.
