FAMILYEXPDT-some moderators join in on the bashing when impartiality would be a bigger benefit.

Exactly my earlier point. They often perpertrate a threads attack. Regardless of their position or years in the seat, that kind of behavior is absolutly not acceptable. Wer'e not talking about some young childs antics, but grown men behaving very badly.



LDB-Rather than suggesting we keep such stuff around how about just supporting the forum and moderators and trusting they are doing what they consider in the best interest of the forum members?

Probably best the group of you folks start looking into mirrors rather than suggesting we support your actions. Undeniably, yall have crossed the line numerous times and are relentless in this continuing bashing of one EO member. Your direct actions have contributed signifintly to the longevity of the bashing. TRUST ? You gotta be kidding.

You have been a member since May 20th of this year with a total of three posts. Sorry we don't live up to YOUR standards, but everyone does do a great job. Being here for a month with three negative posts hardly qualifies your comments with many. Over time, you will likely see ALL of the picture, rather than just a small part of it.

CozDream, Not sure who you really are but I don't think you've seen my direct actions doing any bashing or encouraging any who do. I am all for discussions backed up by facts, information and data and all against personal bashing and attacks. Perhaps you should not so quickly categorize everyone in a specific group. That's how these things get started.

Dave I guess I should trust her, she never wanted to know what is,,,is. And Tallcal thinks um ah well humm never mind.

Remember, this was not about the Mods who I think normally do a good job, for such a small amount of money.

Hello all well we all know where we and EO stands on this,So I see only 1 or 2 ppl that cause most of the bashing and causing the problem.Why don't you delete them from the forum and move on,Everyone here Is great and I love just about all the post and what the members have to say.I think alot of the not so positive post are coming from members who are having a ruff time and just blowing off steam here...

Thank you all for your comments, I do read them, and I am listening. I will think about the idea of locking threads, but leaving them so folks can see why. The problem I have with that, is the negative comments are still there for all to view, and new fires spring up. In my mind, I'd rather get griped at for deleting stuff, than for allowing those new fires.

Moderating these boards is a double edged sword. Our moderators become well known, make friends, and a lot of attention is directed at what they say.

The fact is there are many personalities on this board. It is hard to balance all of them, and give some freedom of expression, without allowing free reign.

I've been here since 1999, served as a Moderator for a while, then joined the EO staff as Forums Administrator in 2005.

During that time, I have seen several boards self destruct because of flaming. I've seen SEVERAL boards with NO balance. You either have a coffee club of 5 people talking to each other, or you have total anarchy. Either way, not much business gets discussed.

We are still here, with 3 of the original moderators who were here when I started. I still think we are the best, and our moderators are some of the best going. Are we perfect? NOPE. We all have personality clashes. Anytime there are strong personalities on a board, you will have that. WE ARE WORKING ON IT. It will get better, this I promise.

A couple of months ago,I responded to a topic about parking in a shopping center area.For whatever reason,the reply to me,was that I was a tree huggin liberal ?????,this was about "parking ".Further "bashing"continued,needless to say I havent posted since today.I agree with recent venemous attacks,D-truckers say ban the van..Thats a community being together?...My 2 cents is being devalued on this site everytime I open my wallet! I am close to being broke and nothing left to say.

Vango hi I have been coming here for a year or two before I joined,Like I said In another post I believe Its only 1 or 2 members that lead the threads In the wrong direction and cause 90% of the problems so I say again just delete them...Vango at times It seems like the "D" units don't like the "B" units and the "C" units are caught In the middle between they but there's not many "C" units anymore.And at the same time "B" units don't like the "C" and "D" units because they think they take each others freight...Sorry for getting OFF the subject everyone...

P.S.Please I'm not saying this Is true or the way I believe but there's a few who does and that Is what keeps this problem going on an on...

Interesting observation on vans verses the straights. Back in the Roberts days you really didn't see that as both groups were making decent money. With costs climbing and rates staying somewhat stagnant, it brings out the "us verses them" mentality.
Or so it seems?

Therein lies part of the problem. If you asked ten moderators (or whatever the number is) what the purpose of EO is, I believe you would get ten different answers. Narrowing the focus to the Open Forum, you would still get ten different answers. Narrowing the focus even further to the purpose of a moderator, you would get ten different answers again.

If the powers that be could agree on a common statement as to what the purpose of EO, Open Forum and moderators are, forum participation and policing would be easier for all. A statement posted for all to see would go a long way to eliminating not the personality conflicts but the negative effects of them on discourse in the Open Forum.

A member or moderator would be either good or bad, worthy or unworthy, proper or improper, effective or ineffective; not in comparison to other members but in comparison to the stated purpose of EO, Open Forum and moderators.

As things are now, where one moderator might think he is protecting community members by deleting a too-rosey view of the industry, another moderator might consider that unwarrented censorship and an abuse of power. Without a stated purpose, no one can ever know what the deal is.

For moderators to be effective and respected, they must have a common standard with which to work, and by which to be evaluated.

Finally, pleeeeeaaaaaazzzzzzzeeeee do not take this as an invitation for moderators to have meetings or an online discussion about what EO's, Open Forum's and moderators' purposes should be. EO is a for-profit enterprise controlled by it's owner(s), and highly influenced by its sponsors. Unless the owners enjoy non-productive chaos, they should feel free to decree the purpose at their pleasure.

I would support 100% changing the name from Open Forum to Expediter's Forum or EO Forum or some such thing. This is not a freedom of speech arena. It never has been. Participants should be welcome who understand the purpose and are willing to abide therein. All others, including moderators who do not get it, need not apply.

Hence forth and going narcissistic "ly" forward the Eo shall now be referred to as "Phil's Phorum".
Participation is encouraged but stop at the shrine (7 mirrors and a digicam in a Volvo) to pay homage...

Fortunately, everyone has a different set of values from which they judge... asking for everyone to judge from the same set of values is asking for the impossible and the perfect world.

We should be thankful for what we have rather than always wishing for something better because no matter what that perfect world never becomes a reality.

Everyone is welcome to their own judgment however they are not welcome to post insults, whether direct, veiled or otherwise, toward any other members of the forum. Posting such things only removes any doubt about who the smaller person is. No matter how strongly you like or dislike another member of the forum this is not the place for either a love fest or a hate fest. What is done in private is one's own business and nobody else's. Here publicly, it is not appreciated or wanted. I trust we will see only professional behavior from this point forward.

Life is not Leo sized for everyone and It doesn't take one pork chop off my personal buffet if you see me small..
I am an expediter and a good one at that, I am also a grandbuddy to some that are really special and a lover of a woman with a passion a flea like you would never understand.
