The picture I attempted to simply explain was that for each truck under the authority, banner, contract, agreement or whatever you want to call it with Panther or any motor carrier carries with it certain expenditures.
And yet, they do. Just like they use profits from the carrier/broker division to cover the expenses of other aspects of their business. Revenue in, expenses out, bottom line what matters. While Panther may make money off of various other ventures or investments they should not be using those profits from those seperate ventures or investments to cover the expenses of their motor carrier/broker divison of Panther.
Well, I'm sure Panther's CFO will be giving you a call for advice any minute now.The expenses of Panther should be covered by revenue generated by those trucks under the authority, banner, contracts or agreements with Panther.
Yes, I'm aware of that. That's why I brought it up.Now, if you say they are paying themselves rent, then writing it off as an expense, so be it. It is one divison of the whole corporate structure of Panther or any large corporation paying thier bills to the other side of the corporation which actually owns the property - that's business my freind, that's proper business structure.
I never said it didn't generate an expense. It does. It's just that the expense doesn't trump the revenue, even when idle. What I said was the expense generated by the empty truck is more than offset by the QC revenue alone, 'cause it is. If you want to boil it down to just freight revenue and just the expenses related to that truck, including office supplies and utilities and support personnel salaries, the QC fees they are collecting are far and away more than the expenses incurred. And if you actually think that an empty truck sitting anywhere, no matter where it is, no matter what the freight load or traffic is, does not generate an expense I must disagree with you.
Yeah, pennies per day, versus the $4.99 per day they receive in QC fees. I've been OOS all week, and will be most or all of next week, too. The five or ten dollars it costs them to have me on the books and OOS for a couple of weeks pales in comparison to the $70 they'll take in for my QC fees.Public liability insurance is still paid, accounting expenses are still generated just to keep track of an empty truck and a whole array of other expenses.
If that's true, they why would you say, "While Panther may make money off of various other ventures or investments they should not be using those profits from those seperate ventures or investments to cover the expenses of their motor carrier/broker divison of Panther."?Look, I might not like how things are done in big business, but if we want to run with the big dogs - we have to be willing to accept the bite and understand they have every right to do with their profits as they see fit - not as what we think.
I'm confused. I've been following this saga.. but don't get it....
Did I miss anything?
I'm confused. I've been following this saga.. but don't get it.
Let's see, just not to long ago, Greg McClain, aka McClain, aka Fort Wayne, aka Chuckwagon was in trouble for stealing...er .. excuse me.. not returning a Bolt fleet owner's truck that he claimed owed him money. He freely admitted hiding the truck, and holding it ransom to get what was owed him.
A few months later, he was on here asking what freight rates were, and then began posting as McClain Logistics. He gave up that business and his broker license was revoked for some odd reason.. he then resurfaces as his own CARRIER McClain transport... a short few weeks later, he 'merges' with another company who was glad to get his years of experience and all his company 'assets' he had built up in 3 months or so.
Did I miss anything?
Now he has a terminal?
Um... Greg, is your car parked in the 'terminal' also? Hey.. on your way to the Dispatch Center, could you grab me a beer from the fridge? I'll be in the "Driver Lounge" seeing a man about a horse and reading the paper.
Wow. Can you imagine the business luck this guy must have to have such a huge venture in a year and a half!
Oh.. go union or go home, right Greg? What happened to that!!!

Ok I will address these last two post in a new thread.
You know you have the right person sit you down and talk to you and not down to you (like you seem to do and a few others) and it makes understanding things alot easier and it makes you understand your own behavior and sins.
