Hello, I'm curious folks, since I've not driven truck team before but would consider it (with the right female - who comes from a wealthy family, that has a good boat, motor, and trailer, can cook, etc.) Smile!. Only joking, but I sure got your attention didn't I?
SMILE!!!
Anyways, What do teams make with companies like PII, FedEx, Conway Now, and Tri-State and Express-1??? Talkin' straight truck #'s Only.
I'd like to hear from Teams who actually run for these companies.
Miles and rough money figures? Low and high, your average #'s being pulled? when are peak and off peak times for teams? is it the same for solo's in your opinion? Solo Driver here writing this thread.
a girlfriend of mine has thought about getting a straight truck and runnin' expediting freight - she used to drive for Swift, so she's plenty qualified.
What do teams run alot of? Automotive or ? pharmaceuticals?
if you have a lift gate do you run more inner city with team?
if you have a 3 axle rig as opposed to a 2 axle rig what's the mileages for a team a week and a month?
Where do they run you? still in eastern US? or do you run TX to MI? or CA to east coast? when are the busy times for a team? weekends it seems with PII, solo's seem to be given the weekends off with PII alot. Have any of you run solo then switched to team? what's the main differences - and not just talkin' pay, what else would a solo have to get used to when runnin' team, besides sleep patterns?
Running team, what's good equipment to have? large sleeper of what size is nice? ofcourse the bigger the better, but interested in hearing what teams on EO here are running for sleeper sizes, besides DaveKC that is - they're the exception. Smile Dave!
Lift gates for teams? I rarely used my lift gate as a solo with PII.
Pallet jack was nice to have though, as a solo, but what about with a team? Reefer units? Are Reefer units more for FedEx WG division? I know PII has about 3 straight trucks with reefer's and they're runnin' so hard they don't know what state they're in from what I'm told. I also know that PII teams runnin' A&E loads are runnin' hard too, they need more over there - Irwin in Special Services Division was tellin' me if I went team with PII he could get me A&E Loads no problem - I think it made a difference though if you had a liftgate and 3 axle rig. I was in PII Spec. Serv. Div. and their work was gradually going up I noticed for me...
it's too bad I got in with a bad owner with a lemon of a truck, every repair shop I took it to said the same thing, the FL80 wasn't designed to have a large tall sleeper on it plus all the other weight that was on the truck-lift gate, liftable tag, plumbing system - the rig was 24,600 lbs. (empty of freight)with full twin 50 gallon fuel tanks, and a full 40 gallon fresh water tank.
Let's talk, as I'm sure other's are curious about team operations as well.
I'm very curious to see what teams do in the way of miles and the kinds of loads they haul - as opposed to solo's
Not really into the whole "Business Plan" aspect of things as a driver, but learning as I read on this awesome site with awesome site filled with awesome people... anyways,
Tazman mentioned the figures of nearly 4,000 miles a week, for a team. I don't know if that's easily done for 3 weeks a month or not. I know as a solo I was barely cuttin' out 800 to 1,000 miles a week, on average it was 1,200 miles a week I'd say. Had I really gotten alot of backhauls I could have easily done as a solo straight truck I'd say...about 1,500 to 2,000 miles a week roughly.
What kind of miles do teams generally run, on average, with most companies??? Let's hear those figures? I'm curious as I'm sure many other's are as well. Team Miles: A Day? A week? a Month?
SMILE!!!
