Miles for cargo vans?

What kind of miles do cargo vans average on a weekly basis? Just curious if they stay busy and would be a good investment?

It depends on wether you will run as a solo or team. We started the second week of May in a new van. Because we are a team, we have picked up a lot of miles. So far we are at 105,000 miles in about 7 months. We did put about 10,000 miles in personal trips and we have only been home twice in this same time frame. As a solo you will get fewer miles and if you value home time that will have a huge effect on your totals also. Be really honest with yourself and figure how many miles you will need to survive. Make sure that you can not only survive but thrive or you might want to consider another vocation. Best Wishes.

Who knows. Every company is different and because the van is the last thing on the list of needed vehicles, it is the one that sometimes sits.

Good investment for what?

As a fleet owner - not really. With the amount of trucks still on the market and still cheap, trucks are the way to go.

BUT with that said, when you chase pennies you get only pennies.

Have to go with Greg one this one....
pennies begets pennies with most carriers...
Save yourself the aggrevation....let this idea be just that...an idea....stick to the truck...

HAHAHA BigCat :D I thought about going out and getting a van or two also since they are relatively cheap and we could just buy it outright! They talked me out of it to so now I am back to procrastinating on the straight truck! lol :p

Cargo van miles will go up and down. One week you are lucky to hit 1000 miles. Other weeks you might see 2500. When I drove for Panther I would average on a normal week around 1500 give or take. Maybe 7-10 times a year I would get near the 3000 mile mark but those were including long weekend runs.
