The hours of service, log book, is against you. If you get 10 hours work today chances are it delivers at 6AM. You empty and go in the sleeper at 8AM. Then you must sleep for at least 8, before you can head to the next load. Well, everyone is going home and you are available, with no load till the next day, if you are lucky. A B unit, no log book, yet, can work for a solo. But the carrier may have rules that amount to the same thing. Best advice I can give is don't buy a truck till you have some experance.

The weekly average for FedEx Custom Critical D trucks for the years 2002-2004 was 1903 miles. This info is somewhat dated but gives you a start. 2005 was a better year and 2006 will most likely prove to be slower than 2005

YOU SHOULD NOT BE CONCERNED WITH HOW MANY MILES PER WEEK YOU GET IN THIS BUSINESS BUT RATHER HOW MUCH REVENUE YOU MAKE PER MILE.:)

Most of us would tend to agree that your first statement is wrong and the second is right. A prospective owner needs to know of the big picture not just miles or revenue per mile.

What's better: $2.00 a mile for 1000 miles with 100% deadhead every week, or $1.58 a mile for 1903 miles with 38% deadhead?

Typical miles per week is as important as revenue per mile and no less important than many other factors that determine your net proceeds at the end of the year.
