Microsoft Streets and Trips

I have started playing around with Streets and Trips and customizing some maps. I was given a cover map with all of the Express Centers for FedEx located plus the locations of the Flying J's. I have since added all of the other major fuel stops and then had the brilliant idea of starting another map to track our loads. I would like to copy my customized push pin locations of the fuel stops to my load map. This map makes it very easy to enter our loads and then pre determine where our fuel stops will be and I can also check fuel prices at those locations. Any ideas on how to move the push pins would sure be appreciated.

I have been using MS streets and trips for several years now. I now use it as a main data base for pick and deliveries by marking pickups with a green flag and deliveries with a red flag and keep updating it as I go along then save my work on a weekly or monthly file. This way I can always revert back to an old schedule if I need some information I have since deleted. It sounds to me your trying to combine 2 saved maps, as far as I know you can't do that, but it sure would be a worthwhile update if you can. I think you can email MS with suggestions for an update through the prgram, I did that with Delormie a couple of times. Good luck.

That is what I am wanting to do, combine two overlay maps. I will keep digging around and see what I can find.

Is there any other advantage to using this instead of Yahoo or Google maps? (having Flying J's and other locations of need/interest on the map) Assuming you can get wifi when you need it.

When we get a load I plot the route and where the fuel stations are located. If I want I can easily lookup the fuel costs for a any fuel stop along the route.

I have been working on MS Streets & Trips for my brother. He drives Class A OTR.

I have done the following to show on the map.

Pilot Truck Stops
Flying J Truck Stops
TA Travel Centers
All low bridges 13'2" and under
Weigh Stations

This shows up all on the same map. When he puts in Start and End he simply zooms in, looks for the low bridges, truck stops, etc. If a low bridge is along the route he can zoom in and make it a "avoid zone" and then he can "find route" again to take him away from that "avoid zone". He can save the map as a new name for that route so he can refer back to iy later if needed. Also on the original map he will save it with the new "avoid zone" so he does not have to worry about it again.

He uses the "options" to put in his fuel quantity, mpg and then plan his fuel stops accordingly. Also he puts in under the "calculate driving cost based on a fixed rate" his cpm pay to see what the run pays.

All this takes under 5 minutes to do. Of course always refer to the road atlas to be sure the info is accurate and also to check for restricted routes.

If anyone would like the map with all the info already on it feel free to contact ne here.

Paul :)

Linda, I'm not sure how you can combine files that you've set up on different maps.

I'd never used the template setting in Streets and Trips until we bought this. I've added and deleted so much to this original file that it's personalized now.

If you put all your pushpins in one map, then save that map as a template file, you can open the template file and everything is there. Then when you want to save a particular trip you just "save as" and make it a normal map file.
If you want to add new stuff to the template file, for example, a laundry you found, just open the template file and add the pushpin there and save it again.

The only drawback to having so many things on the map is how busy it gets, making it impossible to see the routing on long runs. I wish there was a way to have all the various things in there but only activate those you want in any given session.

if you close the push pin description it makes it better, then use the search area option it will list your push pin open that drop down and see whats near by.
