Which side of Memphis are you delivering? West or north side, go to West Memphis... but watch your back. South or east side, go to Olive Branch, MS.

Depends on what part of the city you are dropping in. If by the airport the J in Olive Branch is the best place. If east side, x18 off of I40 has a Wal-Mart. Then there is the dreaded West Memphis....

The Flying J in Olive Branch, Ms is a good spot. I always found it amusing that almost none of the trucks laying over 'in Memphis' were in Tn: most stay in Ms, the rest in Ar [West Memphis]. Best to avoid staying in Memphis if possible, it's not a good area.

Exit 12 I 40 there is a Ramada Inn Exress,if you have the Corporate Lodging card, room for 2 will be 30 bucks a night.
There are several resturants near by.

The one and only place to go for ribs.... Charles Vergos' Rendezvous :: World Famous Barbeque in Memphis, TN it's downtown but worth the trip.

Corkeys is ok on poplar off 240 head west be on your left

The J in Oliver Branch has a good BBQ place accross the street. Not ribs but ok.

Beale Street has a lot of BBQ place's, you may be able to park at the FedEx Fourm and take a short walk over to Beale....Then you would be close to the Rendezvous off second street, that is the very best place to get the dry rub ribs. Do NOT eat at BB Kings place! Ok for beer but nothing else!

Oh and if you get a BBQ samich please, please try it with slaw. Most folks that are not from around Memphis look at'em funny when ask "you want slaw on it?"

Memphis last told has the highest truck hijacks and break ins in the nation - November's report. Forget doing the tourist thing and even leaving the truck alone, it may not be there when you get back. There has been a couple incidents where some of the upstanding citizens of Memphis were trying to break into the truck while the driver was sitting in the sleeper.

Olive Branch is about the best place to stay.

If I have to be in Memphis it will actually either be Olive Branch, MS or Earle, AR depending on which direction I'm coming from.

If near the airport, there is also a Love's just west of it. Two Pilots side by side a couple miles north of Love's. I dropped by the airport, ended up at the twin Pilots, and loaded out of the same zip code. :)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to do the sightseeing thingy as long as it does not interfere with your job, but might I suggest that you get a little more experience in your job before leaving a $100 thousand dollar truck unattended in Memphis. After all you will be in Memphis 20 plus times a year, and will have a better feel for the area and where safe really is.

Normally the Olive Branch J. We did stay at one of the Pilots off 78 last time. They had security walking the lot all night long. It was clean and well lighted

Just stay out of truck stop city there in West Memphis. Not a really good reason to be there, unless you're looking for lot lizards, which is NOT recommended.

I like to hang out on Crump Blvd, a mile or so west of Lamar. Just park right there on the street. Nobody will bother ya.

Sometimes I crack myself up. :D

Not so much safe as Voodoo Village. One way in- then when in, they block your path with an old school bus.....
