I pick up a load this afternoon that delivers tomorrow morning in Memphis. I'll be going to the J in Olive Branch, MS. after delivery because it's not nearly as awful as the West Memphis stops. I hope to get out of there but very possibly will wind up 'weekending' there. If anyone is going to be in that area maybe we can grab lunch or something.

When I was driving T/T I went to Olive Branch twice a week. The toy company I worked for has a plant there. I'm sure it's much more quiet than W.Memphis. I'm in Indy waiting to pick-up tommorow to go to E.Providence R.I.

That sounds like a potentially cool side trip. What toy company is that? Do they do tours?

It's called American Plastic Toys. Not much to see that you hav'nt allready in any plastic molding facility.

When I started there in '78 it was called Gay Toys. The word Gay came from using an initial from the names of the 3 original investors in the company. Of course, in the early '60s the word simply meant happy. You can imagine the ration of grief I got pulling a trailer that had "Another load of Gay Toys" in huge letters on the side. The name change came around '83 or so.

Highway Star I love old toys and I remember the Gay Toy Co. I have seen some of the toys. (When time permits I enjoy going down old US highways and finding Antique shops) The bargins you find are worth my time, although its harder and harder to find everyone is looking for antiques and all I am seeing is Collectables which are worth 0 just cause it says limited edition means jack ^&*(().

Very Cool. As for a driving a Truck displaying a signs with you described well the only thing that can compare is my wifes Mary Kay car. I aint driving no Pink Caddy even if its free.

Highway Star----Real stress is staying overnight at the Pilot in Memphis with 20 or so thugs around your truck and you only have a 9 shot clip load on board!

We really like to take tours of factories. What other tours have you been on LDB? Hope you had a good weekend in Olive Branch.

Yep. I'm with you on Olive Branch. It's the best place to go near Memphis. I've never been bothered there by professional female types but I've been scammed every time I get that far south anywhere. It seems like the panhandlers prefer a warmer climate. I must look like a soft touch. Probably because I am.

Olive Branch was pretty nice. I saw a team for Con-Way I knew so we had a nice visit. I met a solo for them also plus another Landstar solo so there were enough of us to have a good time while waiting. I also tried out Tops BBQ across the street from the J and it was good and reasonably priced. I got called to do a FEMA job starting Monday so I headed home to do a few piddly things that needed done to the truck and get the laundry caught up. I'll drive up to Alexandria tomorrow in time to be set to watch the game. I have only toured Georgetown Toyota so far but hope to get to do more tours when I can.
