If you want a cheap one to buy some time, I met a Panther team that had one made by Champion. He paid $400, it was really quiet and he seemed to like it. The Hondas are nice but can be a little pricey if you are trying to save money. I was thinking about picking up a cheap generator and trying to mount it like a TriPac, it should be much cheaper.

I have the ryobi 2000 watt. Havent tried it yet but talked to a couple people who like theirs. Also read good stuff online about them. $599.00 at home depot, cheaper online.

I have heard the best reviews on Honda and Ryobi, I think Hondas seem to be the most popular though.

legitimate companies are entering the generator market that were not in play before. Honda might always be king of the hill but the landscape is changing. Yamaha and Hyundai are two that have entered the market along with ryobi.
