Yes, the insanity continues of allowing the left to control the narrative, the agenda, and the laws. Go back 61 years and guess what. Anyone could walk into pretty much any Western Auto, Sears and many other stores, walk up to the counter, and buy a gun, taking it home with them. No yellow form or other hassles, just pay the money and take your purchase, like every other purchase. And guess what, pretty much zero mass shootings. Hmmm, what else did we have 61 years ago. Prayer in school. Corporal punishment in school. Accountability and discipline in school. Actual decent human beings, if a bit misguided, on the left. The insanity continues....

And then what happened? 60 years ago prayer was banned in school. 59 years ago JFK was killed and along with him the democrat party. 58 years ago the gun control act was put in place to significantly infringe on law-abiding honest citizens while doing nothing to criminals except making their jobs easier. And it's been a leftward and downward spiral ever since.
The past is the solution. And it is the left who plays politics with these events. The left blocks many solutions because they don't fit the narrative and promote the actual agenda of gun bans. That's the goal and frankly the left doesn't care how many have to die to get their gun bans. Take away the bad choices and decisions that got us here and you take away the problem. Something the left is far to feeble and weak minded to comprehend.Whaa whaa whaa
Instead of living in the past, quit playing politics with these tragic events and help solve the problem.

This is yet another response that contributes nothing to the discussion, other than derision of others. What a piece of shlt response. Typical.

Pilgrim touched on it. Attack the post, fine. Attack the poster, not so much.I would.
Yes, if there were felonies or drug offenses, or if he had been in a mental institution. However, this can vary from state to state. The gun dealer should have questioned why this kid barely 18 was buying two rifles. Also, where did this kid get the money and what kind of ID did he have? Did he have a drivers license with a current address? He supposedly was living with his grandparents after a falling-out with his mother (red flag). Why did he shoot his grandmother? Is there a grandfather involved? We will find out more about the shooter in the coming days and weeks, since he purchased the guns legally there must have been no big red flags in his past but at 18, pretty much anything that he might have done would have been on his juvenile record so do they check that?
There's the "blame guns" argument again, and once again it totally misses the point. There are bad, crazy people in our society who see no value in life and will take the lives of innocent strangers for whatever reasons their warped minds create. These people who were once placed in institutions are now tolerated for some reason, maybe because "judging" them would infringe upon their rights. We need to recognize that this kind of evil exists among us and we need to guard against it. Therefore, we need to offer our children the same levels of protection we provide for our banks and our politicians in state and federal buildings. I'm talking about armed guards and limited entrances and exits to school property. The school in Uvalde had neither. The shooter entered through an unlocked door. The fact that he chose an elementary school shows he wanted to shoot at people who would not shoot back. Unfortunately these kinds of things are going to keep happening and will be more frequent until we as a society (not government forced) decide that guns are not needed anymore.
A non-sequitur. To this insane individual the rifles were a means to an end. He could've walked into the school and killed these kids with a bomb. The vast majority of gun owners are law abiding citizens who use firearms for protection or sporting activities, which BTW is a constitutional right. It all comes down to human nature and the desire for power, guns=power and most will not give up their (perceived) power
