A very very big mistake that shows a total lack of understanding our system.

Mass. Legislature approves plan to bypass Electoral College
Mistake? No, it's not a mistake. That would imply they're trying to achieve something and making an error in what they do to achieve it. They know exactly what they're doing, and that's to make sure that only large metro areas with their welfare queens have a say in the general election. That being the goal, this would be the right move for them.

There should be mass demonstration at the capital with the lawmakers who've done this being in fear of their very lives for doing such a thing and causing them to reverse it immediately. It's time to reign in lousy **** politicians who think they're above everyone and November is a good time to start.

I heard on the radio that that NY and Ca were trying to bypass the electoral voting system and if they succeed.. just these 2 states could elect the president alone, without any other votes.

In fear of their lives? Take a deep breath and count to ten you'll feel better. If that doesn't work there is always doctors that can help you with anger management.

No need for deep breathing and no need for anger management but fear can be a good motivator. No need for them to know there's no reason for their fear though.

I think the Electoral College works fine. It was set up so smaller states could have a bigger voice. Our votes count... but within the confines of our STATE, to which we are CITIZENS. A nationwide democracy would be a disaster tantamount to the 17th Amendment, taking power away from the states.

I see what Taxachusetts wants to do. They want to make states like Kansas and Oklahoma irrelevant to states like themselves and NY. I call BS! IMO, Taxachusetts can follow that Fleetwood Mac song... "You can go your own way!"

One interesting thing about Electoral Votes is, those votes can actually be cast by the electors for whomever they want. When we vote for the president and vice-president, we're not actually voting for them, but rather for the "electors" representing a state, who are the authorized constitutional participants in a presidential election. Those electors are the ones who actually cast the votes, and at vote time they could vote for anyone who is a candidate for the two offices. I don't know that anyone has ever cast an electoral vote differently than the vote was pledged, but it could happen. Wouldn't that be fun! :D

These politicians today both Republicans and Democrats all think they have the answers. Our founding Fathers knew exactly what they were doing OBVIOUSLY, look at what they created. Their idea for this Country made it the greatest country to ever exist, free market capitalism with limited government involvment. Now, you have a bunch of "Educated" stateists, who want to control every aspect of our lives, and if you look around the world you can see that Socialism DOES NOT WORK! There is a VERY GOOD reason why we have the electoral college, but all the politician wants is CONTROL!!!
Mr. Obama has proven that.
