Republicans have to either court and win over record numbers of minorities, or convince as many Republican voters as possible to actually show up and vote.
We are forgetting about the millions of registered Dems that didn't cast a ballot.
OK, I will accept that.FIFY. Everyone voted. Some just didn't cast a ballot. There is no way to not vote though.
And or have states do their best to suppress the vote or have the Supreme Court overturn voter rights laws. That works well to.
The only way to push things over the top is to get back in touch with regular people, especially in those states. That means blue collar workers and married women, mostly. The issue important with blue collar workers and married women are not the issues of the religious right, they are the issues of economic security, jobs, quality of life. The GOP will have to moderate its tone on social issues, otherwise they come of as being preachy and telling people what to do and how to live their lives. As is noted in this article from a couple of years ago, by shifting traditional Republican positioning on divisive social issues, and by investing in new media platforms, the Republican Party can come back from the brink, and be truly competitive with Democrats, because they'll be bring in more of the youth vote along with the white, over 30 vote.
Exactly right. When Chris Christie is on Jimmy Fallon's show and he casually pulls a doughnut from his [big] pocket to munch on, or Obama sits in a chair and lets Zach Galiafinkis [sp?] ask him "How does it feel to be the last black man elected as POTUS?", younger people respond with affirmation, with "my kind of people!" enthusiasm. Those same people wouldn't know Jeb Bush or Rand Paul if they bumped into them, nor would they much care about what they're trying to sell.
Of course, getting positive name recognition doesn't mean keeping it - Christie is beginning to look rather shady, with multiple ongoing investigations into his affairs [of state, not personal], and Obama has blundered a time or two as well, but the point is that younger people know who they are, at least. And not because the musicians both groups admire are publicly rejecting the politicians who cluelessly use the music in their campaigns, lol.
Sounds like Tom Marello has been exposed to his own music too long. As for Christie liking Bruce Springsteen, that is another one of his flaws.
Yes, he definitely is a flame thrower and has a certain entertainment value, as evident by the Trump v Jonah Goldberg twitter spat.Think for the time being I will go with Donald Trump. Not really presidential but he is a heck of a bomb and flame thrower. Should provide some entertainment if he decides to run. Of course for the fifth time.
Those guys have shown the way for aspiring musicians. Just claim that you are for the average person and the rubes will throw money at you while you grow your massive multi-million dollar business. I would say that having a net worth of $30 million like Morello or $300 million like Springsteen puts them in the category of being out of touch. The act that they put on is brilliant and Morello does have a tremendous amount of skill though.

Sure, it's just like Mark Knopfler sang: "money for nothing".

Sure you would, because anyone & everyone is just like anyone & everyone else, and everyone who has a lot of money is out of touch - can't possibly be any other way. WRONG.
The act that they put on
Please share the reasoning that led to such a conclusion regarding the views of Morello and the band, both in the comment cited and in their lyrics. Why do you think they're insincere?

Couldn't have proven my point any better, lol. When you don't like what you hear [and I mean the generic you, not Barkley in particular] just dismiss it with a derogatory comment. Ignore the fact that millions of others agree with the comment, and assume they don't vote for you because you need to "repackage the message".
More like people believing lies about something, after it is repeated over and over again, the Alinsky way. Can't fix stupid .
Cryptic non responsive comments? Please expound on this. Thanks
