expeditor naptime...snow has stopped, Ice is melting.back in service soon...
AGGHGHH.. after a dispatcher call and refusing a load due to snow, and telling them to put me OUT OUT OUT.. sure enough, this morning before I got dug out of the ice and snow, I had to turn down a cherry load!

The roads here in western KY are bad, at least here at home in town and the surrounding area. We were supposed to get some freezing rain, changing over to snow. That didn't happen. It rained a hard downpour all day yesterday, then the exposed areas (fences, tree limbs, etc.) turned to freezing rain as it changed over to sleet last night, but it never changed to snow. It just kept on sleeting, raining little globular, transparent pellets of ice. The size and characteristics of sand, almost. But it just kept on and on, which is unusual considering the atmospheric conditions which cause sleet, since those conditions generally don't last more than an hour or two. But we got 5 full inches of little ice pellets.
The longer it laid there the more solid it got. You know how snow shoes work so you can walk across the snow without falling into it, well, you could walk across the yard and driveway with your regular shoes and not break the surface of the sleet. Very odd, and, very neat.
Then later this morning it started snowing, and he got about an inch and a half of light powder in top of all that sleet. Of course, the snow plows are few and far between here, so they haven't yet plowed the first city of county street.
Imagine parking your car or truck in a parking lot, and then at the end of the day returning to your vehicle to find the asphalt has risen up 6 inches around your tires (or that your tires have sunk 6 inches into the asphalt). That's what it was like, trying to get out of the driveway. After venturing out around town a bit today and talking with some people who have seen more of the roads, I'm staying right where I am, at home, for another day.

I found my windshield! 3 hrs with defroster on, emptied a can of de-icer, lots of scraping and chipping.... I found it!
Ugh.. didn't get the pellets like Turtle, mine looked like someone sat there and poured water over the van as the temps went down. I had a shell.. (insert Turtle joke here LOL ) If I were braver I would have used the Cheri method of a hammer LOL....
Oh well, I found it.. and that's what's important!
Now to thaw ME out....
