They should give YOU the option....release you from the load and they start looking again...or YOU agree to wait and take whatever is negotiated.....I once got screwed for 2 days of wait time on a load that never made it across border and customer didn't want to pay when they cancelled...

Agreed: there should be some limit in place as to how long a truck must wait before pulling the plug. And finding out what the compensation is for waiting shouldn't be like pulling teeth, either. [I'm assuming that's difficult, as I've never done it, lol]
Dispatch is trying, [3 offers today, accepted all, got none] it's not their fault. And I know the risk of sitting in Laredo, but waiting 2 days [in the shipper's lot, can't go anywhere, do anything] for the freight is just nuts. When it cancelled, so was I! ;)

Sitting here that long is definitely dispatches fault they should've told the customer you're getting billed by the hour as of now. And/or cancel you immediately

They are too busy on Middlebelt giving out speeding tickets....

Talking about Police,

---Be careful what you think?

A few days ago, i was reflecting on all the driving I do and was thinking it was odd that I have never seen one of those classic police chases you see on TV. Well this morning I didn't only see it, I was in it. I was 50 miles from my destination in Huston Texas at 5am traveling westbound on the expressway. I noticed about 1/2 mile on the eastbound side a long line of police cars flashing in the night. I thought there must be a pretty bad accident on that side. As i quickly got closer i noticed another police car driving towards me on the service road next to the expressway. i thought that was pretty weird. Then I saw it,. Headlights of a car racing erratically heading right towards me heading the wrong way on the freeway at a high speed. Talk about an oh crap moment. it was weaving it's way through the traffic, cars and trucks quickly veering to get out of the way. A few feet from impact with me I hit the brakes and veered to the right as it passed me going in the middle of the 3 lanes. A semi behind me almost jackknifed behind me trying to avoid the car. After i got going again, i saw that that police were setting up road blocks on my side of the freeway in case the vehicle turned around. When I remembered to breath again, I got the heck out of dodge. Would have to wait till later to change my pants

Really? Yeah I wish we could tell one of the largest customers in the industry that we were telling them how it goes. But I am smart enough to know that while I wish business worked that way ... It doesn't. And I am guessing the fleet would be none so happy with the fall out. Easy to throw out opinions. Harder to deal with realities. IMHO

So you going to Bill this customer $1500 or whatever owed for 48 hours detention time? If they request the truck to stay there but they are contractually obligated to pay I see so many drivers over the years taking you to the shorts over these hotshot customers in my opinion of course As I said E1 ended up paying me the mileage on the load minus the fuel surcharge was about $550 out of their pocket
