Questions to you guys running generator's and window shaker/portable ac's. When it rains do you guys put the generator away or wrap it in something or what? Is it safe to slide it under the van ( if it would fit ) during rain/snow?

Summer is coming. Been looking for portable A/C's. Noticed you can get the window shakers much cheaper. I have a wooden wall for my bulkhead could I cut a hole for it and I mount the A/C there? Does it need any venting to the outside? Would also have to deal with it dripping water but Im sure I could configure something a catching system and bottle the water and dump it every so often. I know nothing about any type of A/C but im thinking a 8,000-10,000 btu should be plenty. Any suggestions or tips?

Yes. They hve an exhaust vent that needs to go outside. Behind the ac gets hot as well. I wilk have to look for the pics of our set up. We have it mounted behind the drivers seat in the summer and modified our.curtains as.well as window.screens for.it.

For the drain we take the plug out and put a hose in it and then drain into a gallon jug in the wheel well.

Really like that set up! That may be the best set up. notanewbie replied back and said he opens his rear door to vent the a/c or he was gonna install a roof vent for it. Probably be better off to set up a portable A/C like you have and vent it out the window. The breezeway #3 how did you guys modify it to where it wouldnt allow air/rain in?

My wish for the day. I wish (hope) that the little car I just saw being fueled in the truck lanes has a diesel engine :D

It probably does...I couldnt make out the badge though.

He actually had a piece of plastic laying around that he modified. Unfortunately because of the angle of the windows on the newer sprinters I'm not sure that the breezeways would work. I think we have it with us. Next time you see us ask and nick can show you.
