Those are mole hills take a drive to the Canadiens Rockies . Now those are mountains!!
I read somewhere and it may or may not be true that while the Rockies are taller by a long shot the Appalachians are steeper. Some guy theorized that the Appalachian mountains use to be all bigger than Everest is today but have eroded over time because they are very very old. Possibly the worlds first mountain range

Except for the steeper part. The Appalachians aren't steeper, but they are seriously older than the Rockies. By a lot. Most of the rock in the Rockies actually came from a much older mountain range of Precambiran rock, Earth's crust actually, that long ago eroded. There were basically three major episodes of plate tectonics that pushed up the rocks into the Rocky Mountains, the last of which is the one really raised them up (the Laramide orogeny), and happened between 55-80 million years ago, right around the time of the demise of the dinosaurs.

The Himalayans, where Everest is located, were formed by the same kind of plate tectonic subduction, and are only about 40 million years old. Which is why they're taller.

The Appalachians, on the other hand, go back to at least 480-540 million years ago, the latter part of the Paleozoic Era and the early part of the Mesozoic Era. There were several tectonic mountain-building events at that time, all of which resulted in the collisions of plates that formed the supercontinent of Pangea about 300 million years ago. Pangea started to break up about 175 million years ago and North America was straddling the Equator at that time. In one of the first collisions that began the formation of the supercontinent, when the North American continent slammed into the African continent, the Alleghenian orogeny happened which created the Appalachians of North America and the Anti-Atlas Mountains of Morocco in West Africa. It actually formed the minor supercontinent called Euramerica, which eventually joined up with the other minor supercontinents that became Pangea.

No one can yet be certain, but there is a lot of evidence that the Appalachians were at one time at least as tall as the Himalayans, Alps and Rockies.

In 1915 a meteorologist named Alfred Wegener was the first to scientifically describe Continental Drift in a book called The Origin of Continents and Oceans. He turned out to be right about the continental drift, but he was mostly wrong about the causes. Being a meteorologist, he deduced that tidal forces and polflucht (pole flight) forces were the driving forces behind the drift. Polflucht is German for "flight from the poles" and he used it to describe the differential gravitational force (the horizontal component of centrifugal force) and the Earth's bulging in the middle as what caused the continents to drift towards the Equator, with the tidal forces pushing and pulling them apart along the way.

The science and hypotheses were debated for 50 years, with the prevailing scientific thought fixated on, well, a "fixed" Earth, a steady-state Earth, a solid and comfortable immovable continental placement. But all of the debate ended, more or less, with the, uhm, groundbreaking breakthroughs of the mid and late 1960s that showed unequivocally the continental subduction along fault lines as well as seafloor separation with the seafloor forcing itself under adjacent continental plates. And, it was shown that the Earth rotated and the Moon's gravity ever so slightly pulls the Earth's surface layer back westward as the core kept rotating, more or less as proposed by Alfred Wegener. And isn't that kewl.

All of these breakthroughs happened in the 60s, when the hypotheses and notions of plate tectonics became verifiable scientific theory, and I was around 10 years old, and it caught my fascination and I've never let go of it.

All great info but this part made me laugh with its simplicity lol

Well little Kickstarter, gather all your fellow truckers and mother truckers and let me tell you the REAL story of the Appalachians vs, the Rockies.

It all started in the 1600's when my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather Baron Von Trump I arrived here in America, which to this day I feel should have been named Trumperica. First let me say that these weren't OK or pretty good grandfathers, they were GREAT grandfathers. We are better because we are great, not just so, so. Anyway, Baron was a shrewd investor and he bought this island for a few dollars and from the Indians and started knocking down there Teepees and putting up bigger and better Teepees that he rented to thers and made a HUGE profit.

Mr Cruze, just wait your turn, I'm talking to little Kickstarter now. So realizing that he was running out of space he started using Eminent Domain, which is a very fair law, to move west and maximize profit.

Mr Rubio, shut up and wait your turn, I'm getting to explain the mountain issue soon. OK, so fast forward a couple hundred years and Phinneas Trump noticed an influx of Chinese people, all criminals too, coming from the west. I don't know if this is true, I heard it on the Western Union so I'll just put it out there. They say that when Sitting Bull defeated the Cavalery that there were thousands of these Chinese standing over the hill cheering.

Well, Phinneas saw a problem and knew a wall was needed, that's when he formed Trump Expediting, LLC. He was the biggest, greatest expediter of all time, AND, I promise to make Expediting great again!! We had all these wagons heading west and they were bassiaclly sails on wheels. So Phinneas had the idea to put rocks in the bottom of each wagon. So, when they got to the Appalacians, the biggest greatest mountains, (yes little KS, they WERE the steepest too), they took on the rocks. Well, they went all across the country and as they were going thru the Rocky Desert they unloaded the rocks and built the best wall ever from Canada to Mexico. That little Kickstarter is the TRUE story about how rhe great rocky mountains were formed.

With all the Greatness behind me it's only natural that I will build another wall East to West. We are going from California to Texas, thru Texas all the way to Miami and the Cubans will pay for it too! And guess what Ted & Marco, all Cubans will be sent back to their island.

Of course, that will turn the Gulf of Mexico into a big pond, a GREAT pond for all expediters. We will name this pond after the first King of America: Trump Lake!

So there you have it little Kickstarter, the true story of the once great Appalacians

you pay for macro point?...gee...we don't....Murray pays and it isn't that much per unit...your carrier is just having you pay for what they should be paying for....

the app is FREE....Murray subscribes...per unit charge I believe...

Correct. MacroPoint either charges by load or a flat monthly rate per unit tracked. If per load, you are ONLY tracked when on a load. On the flat rate plan one (we) CAN set up tracking orders to track a unit all the time. We don't usually since it's usually not necessary. But it can come in handy. Especially if a driver is DHing to another area. We have gotten a few loads based on driver's last position when we update on these moves. I usually set up two trackers to get positions every 30 mins when a driver is DHing to another area. And post them there every 30 mins. That way he's never more than about 30 mins where where he's posted.
It only takes one landed fish from that to make ALL the extra effort worth it!!! Just IMHO.
