The few times we have delivered in the Chicago area, we've had no problems getting a load out. Just had to wade through the seemingly unending sea of less that stellar offers to get a good one. Think we turned down maybe 12 one day (most van loads, paying less than $1.00 / mile) to get a "good" one. We wondered why we were getting all the low offers. Called dispatch, and realized our reefer flag had inadvertently been removed. Once that was put back on, we started getting better offers. Our "rookie" mistake

Was in Gary the other week, Police bull horn at 0230- "Sir, slowly exit your car with your hands where we can see them..." Moved down to LeRoy, IN, after the police cars were gone and I could get out of there. Got a load in northern Chicago.

Sitting at home. So far on a sort of dedicated run going from Newell, WV to Rochester, MI. Getting the normal van rate, money for tolls and to relocate back to Ohio. It'll be a pretty darn good month as long as this run keeps rolling.

It sounds more to me like the carrier's mistake and corrective action by a seasoned pro.

Current location, at my desk. I have a driver who's been out for a while and I just got an email from his daughter. She is making us a load offer. She wants her father expedited home A.S.A.P. She then included the address and instructions that this is a residential delivery. What should I charge?

We try to learn something new everyday!

At that point, we were not aware of the macro that allowed us to check our truck's equipment flags. We check on a regular basis now.
