KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — A man dressed in a military-style "ghillie" suit and apparently trying to provoke reports of a Bigfoot sighting in northwest Montana was struck by two cars and killed, authorities said.

The man was standing in the right-hand lane of U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell on Sunday night when he was hit by the first car, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. A second car hit the man as he lay in the roadway, authorities said.

Flathead County officials identified the man as Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell. Trooper Jim Schneider said motives were ascertained during interviews with friends, and alcohol may have been a factor but investigators were awaiting tests.

"He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting," Schneider told the Daily Inter Lake on Monday. "You can't make it up. I haven't seen or heard of anything like this before. Obviously, his suit made it difficult for people to see him."

Ghillie suits are a type of full-body clothing made to resemble heavy foliage and used to camouflage military snipers.

"He probably would not have been very easy to see at all," Schneider told KECI-TV .

Tenley was struck by vehicles driven by two girls, ages 15 and 17, who were unable to stop in time, authorities said.

Those girls shouldn't have been texting and driving!

Well, not much else to say about that. . .

Guess bigfoot was never taught to look both ways before crossing. I feel bad for the girls. A 44 year old man should have known better.

That is like say all black guys have guns and rob people. There were no supporting facts.

The only facts we do have is there was a 44 year old moron (moron maybe an understatement here) playing dress up and standing in the road. My personal opinion is he got what he deserved. What if the 2 girls had lost control and been killed because of his dumbass?

Well, I thought it was funny. :D

Except for what it did to those two girls. Even if they were totally not at fault they will still live with it for the rest of their lives.

Besides, the guy was dumber than dirt. Everyone knows that Bigfoot does not look like a walking bush!

It was definitely not a well thought out plan. My thought exactly about the girls. My friend had a drunk guy on a motor cycle swerve in to her lane and he went through her windshield killing him. It severely messed her up and she has been in counseling and on depression meds since and she still isn't back to normal from 2 years ago. So it can be a traumatic life from here on out for the 2 girls, especially at that young of an age.

ah, but some critics will argue that atrocities at that young age are easier to get over.

There are many variables. Causing the death of another human being can, likely will, have life changing affects. I hope they can cope.

If those girls ran over a little kid, it would be traumatic. But they ran over a fully grown moron standing in the middle of the road, at night, wearing a sniper suit. More likely, they will give it all the trauma and drama it deserves, by nominating him for a Darwin of the Year Award.

I imagine it will be a burden on them for some time.
