I drive a big truck and I am considering buying one of those little trucks. Is the money good for you?

Yes, the money is good for us (husband-wife team, White Glove reefer truck). We have been running at pre-recession levels for the last few months. By mid-October this year, we made more money than we made all of last year. Looking now to finish off a healthy 2010 before going home for Christmas.

Nice looking truck, I drive for JB Hunt and I was going to buy a tractor soon. I am going to start pricing trucks like yours.

People are naturally interested in the trucks. After all, you will spend most of your time driving, living in and sleeping in it. Just be sure to evaluate the revenue opportunities at least as much as you evaluate your truck opportunities.

Very few solo expeditetrs drive big-sleeper straight trucks. I've only met one in seven years, and that was before the recession.

Like most businesses, you only get out what you put into it. If you hustle and sell yourself to nth degree you might come out ahead. You might do all the right things, and end up on the bottom, or close to it. In this business there is no right or wrong, there are combinations that serve one set of people and they do well, and there are others that do well with a total different set of combinations. I think teams do better, but, then that's my opinion. It's a new set of problems because if your not married, or living together, then you need to be sure you can live with that person 24/7 and all their scents. Just because you drove for one of the bigger companies doesn't mean you can expedite, it's a different set of rules out here. I can be corrected on this whole post, this is just my view.

Maybe the Obummer fan is looking for that already roasted goose like so many have in the past. Seems logical to me, given what appears to be the socialization.

Ans yes, many of us live a very comfortable life out of the back of these "little trucks"!

Argosy??? I love em. Somewhere in community and expediter pictures is a image of my old Argosy (that is now making movies). Also somewhere on this site is a pic of the Farmall i'm driving today. Possibly someone more site literate than me could help us find those pics for you.

I'll have to try my hand at finding those pics. I like the A's as well. Found one online, long wheel base out in CA....looked nice in pics, but a ways to go to do a visual.

Thx Sir

That one has strange box dims, and it is sprung and not bagged. If you are ever thru I74 between Indy and cinci let me know, I'd be happy to sit a spell and discuss money making straight truck kinds.

Now that we've covered the intent of the thread we can get to the cover story. Yes, money can be made in expediting in all classes of vehicles if one works smart and learns their business.

I agree, money can be made if one is prepared before going on the road. By this i do not mean what you need to get started, any smart business plan involves start up costs and monies to keep the business solvent for a nominal amount of time. More important is to have bills on the personal side in order. You will have business expenses that the business will have to support. The business will have to pay you personally also to make your personal expenses. This is where many have gone wrong. By this i mean, if its gonna take 3000$ a month to pay your personal bills { just a figure outta the blue} thats gonna take away from the business side to operate. To sum it up, alot of people come into the business thinking this is a good way to pay those high monthly personal expense and forget about what will be left over after the business bills are paid. Usually this comes around to bite them when they have to pay for that 1, 2, or 3000$ repair. Then they create another debt by borrowing or putting it on a card. Thats when the cycle begins rolling down hill to failing. Be prepared before taking the leap on your own. Dont be to payment heavy before even getting started. Good luck to you if you choose this thing we do, which is just another example of legalized gambling, as an old expediter friend used to call it.

I love the way you guys play into the right left paradigm as if we have a legitimate vote as to which party gets into office. We need to call them all! That includes the D's and the R's. There are simply too many rhino Republicans taking up space in Washington.

They all are bunch of crooks, it just depends on which side you like better. Me I'm a Republican because they are the less of two evils. Obamma ask the people if they wanted a change and they got it. The USA is in worse shape than when Bush was in office. Your kids and your grand kids will be paying for the money Obamma has handed out.
