There's no reason there shouldn't be more jobs in this country if people would just do what they should and support American business.

There are lots of reasons. Congress giving tax breaks to corporations who move their operations overseas, unions pricing themselves out of the world market, cheaper and better made goods from overseas. Lots of reasons.

Yes, or buy a Remington and use it in that. Not my fault Browning is no longer made in Belgium. Too bad Mr. Remington and Mr. Browning had to have a falling out, eh? You could buy a Mossburg. They are made here as well.

Don't need shotgun shells? Then you may need a brand new, really nice Detroit River style handline reel? Another "Made in Michigan" product. You can buy all the "shanks" and weights you need from Michigan based companies as well.

The point is that there are lots of small to medium sized companies in the U.S. that employ U.S. workers. There is more to life than cars. Every job is better than no job. One has to want to find them. The more we do that the better off we will all be.

Well I have some really old and really good reels that I acquired, forgot the names of them but they were made here in the US. I have both salt water and fresh water stuff, lots of tackle and lots of line. I just never get around to using them, maybe with that trip to Alaska I will.

My fly fishing stuff, which I haven't used in years all come from some company in Detroit, most are still in great shape.

But see the problem is this, for electronics, for cars, for even knives and forks, where are the US made stuff that I and others can afford?

I was looking for a pickling crock, so I can compete with OVM and his pickle empire, but I could not find a good crock for a reasonable price - I am not spending $300 for a 20 gallon crock. So I have to settle for a German made one for $100 and free shipping from France.

Ithaca Gun is back from Japan and being made in Upper Sandusky, OH. Big time sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, both national and our very own Monroe County chapter.

There are a few ways to deal with this. One can whine about was it no longer made here. One can buy, whenever possible, what ismade here. The ultimate is for those who want thing made here again is to start doing it yourself. The only one who does no good for American workers is the whiner.

One can whine...

How about those who whine that we need to buy more American products see that it doesn't really matter.

You do know in the past four years, the shifting of production back here has to do with the weakening of the dollar and not the quality of the goods?

Surprising that our exports still haven't made a dent in our trade imbalance nor has made a dent in our debt.

If we want jobs back here, then we have to make a decision - we either have to shed our debt, strengthen our dollar and change the way we tax things and people or we can do some wishful thinking.

Like the guy who has plastered on the back of his 2002 Dodge Ram Diesel - Are you out of a job yet, keep buying FOREIGN - the problem is he is driving a truck assembled in Mexico and a lot of the body parts came from a factory near the plant. So what is more harmful?

I would buy things that are made here but I don't need to buy those things. I don't need a new shotgun, I need a new toaster that works and isn't $100. I need a new coffee pot but you know I can't find a percolating aluminum pot anywhere that is US made, for that matter I can't find a good espresso machine for under $500 that is US made.

Leo, the map doesn't work for me, I get about five pop ups and the bowser screams about it.
