The ones they have right over the bridge there for the tourists are garbage---I'd take a pot pie over those ones. I've gotten good ones further in at local diners. It's been a couple of years, but there was a place outside Munising that has good ones.

Do you have a guess to how far north I have to travel before I can find pasties? I ask people in the southern part of the state, and they have no idea what I'm talking about. I guess I'm looking for the pastie demarcation line.

the lowest point I can think of is Grayling where 72 splits off towards Kalkaska,, if your coming off I-75 to 72,,just to your left off the intersection in town...never ate there but the place was there for awhile...

You have to work a little to find Bessies but I assure you they make non-tourist pasties. They are the real thing. I have worked in and vacationed in the UP all my life and Bessies are among the best you can get. Even if they are just across the bridge.

Being from northern MI and reading this thread you guys made me curious about these Pasties. I Googled the Bessies Pasties and it turns out she will ship them.
