Love those directions

On a recent load to CT here were the directions for delivery:
"...turn right onto CT220 and search for address."

Gotta love those directions. Ha! Also, when we asked a local for a little more info he said, "Oh, yeah, it's over yonder. That way."

Sooooo, my question is: Does anyone happen to know where "over yonder" is? I thought over yonder was somewhere is South Georgia. *grin*

Royal Flush, lighten up! Good Grief! We have a GPS and a great software program and two laptops. We had no trouble finding the address in spite of the directions. I was only joking! Jeeese!! Did you leave your sense of humor at home or what???

I like it when they say you can't miss it.or when they ask where are you.I will reply with,if I knew that I would not be lost.I need to get the bumper sticker that says I might be lost but I am making good time..hope every one has a safe and happy holiday and remember the ones who gave their lifes for this great country we live in...

I get a kick outa the folks I call at the delivery and ask for directions.....And they can't tell ya how to get there. I then ask them how they get to work each day??? ... and they can't tell me. Really!!!! Couple, three times it's happened in my expediting days.

I have to give credit where credit is due,Panthers directions are about 95% accurate with my gps.every now and then I get a I 75 east when it doesnt exist.I use gps, panthers directions and a map to get me where I need to go.The driver is responsible ultimately for not being on time!!!

I'd argue that if the driver did not have a gps unit (which is not required), a computer (which is not required), or the customer's phone number (which is Panther's policy not to give drivers); someone with Panther could only go by directions Panther gives them. If these directions are wrong, and puts the truck in BFE, how can this be on the driver?

Sounds like you've been drinking the orientation kool-aid. Regardless of what they tell you in boot camp, yes... the company is at fault some of the time.

Easy killer(LOL),I'am only stating my experiance with panthers directions.My hat is off to you sir if you can do this job and not use a gps(they did tell me upfront to get a gps and a computer at orentation)and still be on time and not waste fuel!!There are times that I have less than 10 minutes to roll so I cannot afford to play games looking on several maps.Technology is a good thing and I would suggest to anyone who doesnt have a computer to invest in one,I pay my bills,Get directions,keep in contact with friends and family,Check payables,surf the internet,watch movies on it,gaming,countless of other beneficial programs to me,etc etc.the 800.00 dollar price is well worth the benefits!!

I have been on I-75 east. It's near Knoxville, TN where I-40 and I-75 run together.

I don't have a gps, but I use mapquest. If that fails, I call the customer. Yes, it is in the best interest of the drivers to have what technology is available to get the freight there on time. But you can't call them ultimately responsible if they get bad scoop from their company. Sorry for stating it so bluntly in my last post. I was hit the wrong way by your comment.

I honestly think that reading a map needs to be part of the CDL test. it is not difficult as many think.

I have run into some pretty >fill in the blanks< people who were lost because they could not take basic directions and put it to a map to figure out how to get to where they are going.

I stand corrected!!!!
Bacically what I was after was that,I have had the po boxes,the end of route 700,1 800 numbers,QC directions that told me to take a left or go south when you should go north,other numbers that dont work and address that my gps wont find!!.I use my common sense and every possible tool to do the job that is available me.The directions that Panther generate are other driver directions or map quest and I was also told at orentation that it is not Panthers problem if they are inacurate.The phone numbers are given by the customer, also the address like toyota way or averrit lane(have fun at 3:00am finding that one on a map or gps)Maybee in a perfect world every single address would instantly come up,The qc directions would be right on the money and every phone number would be right to the shipping or receiving office!!
