Geo,
Get you one of those lil compressors that sit under the hood with air horns! We used to have a pickup that had those. Really shocked folks when those horns went off!

geo...you do more city driving now and stop and go don't ya? That would explain away brake wear.

Well after talking with 4 owners of the 2007.. 3 of them 170" and one 144' I am not impressed on MPG's they are hard presse to get 21 and average about 20mpg's.
I am thinking just keep this one in good shape for as long as possible and spend 12,000 and put in a new engine when needed. Just got personel best last night of 25.9 mpgs with the airtabs on....

I presume it's a combination of more frontal area and the v-6 engine vs. the 5(?) cylinder in the current version. Some of it may be driving style and idling habits too but that's a big drop from around 25 to around 20.

I'm surprised with it being wider than the original that the floor between the wheelwells is narrower. I've always thought if I did a Sprinter it would be the 3500 with a mod to allow skids between the wheelwells. Oh well, I guess that's just another reason to think Aerocell.

Kinda misled you there Leo...average is about depending on habits 22-24.
So anywhere from a 2-3 mpg drop.

could it also be the 2007 diesel engine and the cannister poullutant cleaners hanging there? are these under the same rules as the big trucks?

how many miles do these folks have on the engines? did the 5 get better mileage from day one or did the engine have to work its way there?

07 mileage

I'll add one more to your list of 07 owners. I'm only at 20K in mileage, but the other peoples' mileage is comparable to mine. Don't know if I'll get any improvement with further break-in, but I was working in the low twenties. I put an apu on the roof, and now I'm out of the competition--two mpg right off the top, no questions asked. I won't be seeing twenty mpg again. Sixteen to occasionally touching nineteen. In anything from my Honda Insight, GMC 3500, to Freightliner I was at the top of the list for mileage, so I hate to see the leadfoot driving this thing.

On the positive, this is one stable ride right out of the box. I heard stories on stability and was a little apprehensive, but it's one issue that seems to have been fixed. Can't even tell there is all the extra weight on the roof with the apu. And the gorge to Knoxville is a breeze.
