Lot of Trucks for sale?

Hey Guys,
Is it just me or is there a big increase in the Trucks for sale section? Is this normal for this time of year or is there a lot of folks getting out!? I didn't see this big increase last year when I was looking for a truck.
Just curious,
Dan

It's been going up and down. What I find surprising is the number of driver/team available ads, compared to driver/team wanted.

I think it is a combination of driver shortages and many buying prior to the 2007 emmission trucks.

Hey Dave you brought up a good point, what will the effect of the new 2007 engines have? Not to go off topic but this maybe why i am seeing a lot of trucks on the market with 500K from some fleets.

There are several factors but the leading ones are reliability and a major reduction in fuel economy according to the major diesel engine manufacturers.
It will be interesting to see how they do. Availability of parts will likely be another one. Early industry reports are showing many locations don't even have the trained mechanics to work on them. That will improve but at a slow pace because there is a major shortage of qualified mechanics.

500k seems standard for used trucks... especially the ones turned into class-8 straights. Could it be because of warranties running out? Or just that it's getting close to being ready to replace major components?

Hard to tell. Some will go to the million mark and others won't. Alot depends on how it was taken care of.

True... but the thought of selling it at that particular time. Thought of another reason... seems to be around the point a truck would be paid off... 4-5 years. Then it's time to trade it in and go back into debt.
