Lost my keys (Bangs head against wall)

Soooooooo, Back in November I had an opportunity to buy a Ford e-350 cube van that I had been eyeing. I bought it & parked it. I had a lot going on with my Dad so it's just been sitting there I haven't done a thing to it or re-tittled or registered it.

So the other day I decided to go start it & run it for a bit & I realized I lost the keys (Bangs head against the wall some more). Of course it only came with a a single set. What are my options besides a hammer to the window & a lock smith.

Will Ford re-cut a key based on the vin#? If so does it matter that I haven't transferred tittle under my name? Is having the tittle enough?

What year ? Do you know if it's a chip key ?

I'd go to the DMV and transfer the title. In Texas if you wait to long there's a penalty and extra fees. Then when you call for a new key it will show in your name.

If it's newer than 8 years they will be able to cut a new key from the vin but if it's older than that you are probably out of luck.

One trick I have done before is to pop one of the door locks out and take to a locksmith, they can make a key from the lock.

It is a 98' or a 99'. No chip in the key.

In NY it doesn't matter how long you wait to tittle a vehicle. Just have to date the tittle & bill of sale with the same date.

I should add that I wasn't planning on putting it on the road yet. I was hoping to avoid that just to have a new key made.

When i bought my van (used) it had been used for Pharmaceutical deliveries. All the side & rear doors were rigged so they couldn't be opened from the out side. Waking up one morning I exited from the rear and closed the door behind me. With the front doors locked.
Called a towing service. Out he came, with a plastic wedge he pried the drivers door open enough at the top to reach in with a coat hanger and pulled up the lock button.

Truck and Tow will sell you a lock out kit that includes those wedges and other devices to get into the vehicle.
They are a tow truck supply outfit.

It gets you in. Doesn't help you if you don't have a key.

Lowes sells wedges (shims) for REAL cheap.

As long as your lockout kit isn't inside your locked van! LOL

I would visit a local junkyard and find you a ford and remove all of the stuff to add keyless entry on your rig. If you have some basic wiring skills, you wouldn't have a problem to add this in. If you use a ford system, you can get the keypad aftermarket from them for about 80 dollars(I have bought two of them and they have been life savers) to put on the door.

If not that then LMC has a kit that I was looking at adding to my 95 Bronco.

Yea....I really gotta get moving on this. I think i'm just going to have to have the lock cylinders changed in the doors & the ignition. I was hoping the keys would turn up, but I can't remember the last time I saw them or used them. It's well over a month, maybe two at this point.

In 2012 when working at ford I locked the keys in my 03 f150 at work...gave them the vin and they cut they key in 5 minutes....can't hurt to give them a call and check if they can cut you some

Is it possible the keys are in the Van somewhere ?
