Hey. If I'm doing this correctly. I'm a new driver. Just dry van. I had to choose a big company to earn experience. However I'm not making enough to get by in the mean time. It's one youve all seen that hires new guys. I travel three hours to my truck and get home seldom. last week I made 158. For living in a truck seven days. Did I choose the wrong career? Any good companies near Salinas, ca? Hope I can find this thread again. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums? Are you with an expediting company? I don't know what your home time requirements are, we try to stay out for AT LEAST 4 weeks at a time.

I am not sure but is sounds like you are an employee, company driver? Most expediters are self employed.

Let us know how we can help. I am just not sure what you are asking.

I wasn't sure what expedited was. I just saw trucking and went for it. Do you drive different vehicles as well? My wife (and I) wants me home every two weeks. I just need that steady reliable check. Salinas, ca. Is a major agriculture area. My question I guess is where can I get that dream job? At least 700 per week, home on weekend. That's the starting point then I whittle down the wish list until a suitable compromise can be found. Thanks drivers.

Melissa,
How do you come to this advise? It just happens that I've already spoken to a recruiter at Knight. He makes all the right claims. Sounds good, but so did Sch*****r. I don't want to frying pan/ fire. What can you tell me? Is one puppy mill better than another? Thanks very much,
Henry
Is there an insependant reference guide somewhere comparing the big companies?

I would look at Werner or CR England since they both have reefer divisions and it would be easier to get loads in your area which might get you home more often. The area you live in would cause the biggest issue with getting home with a dry van, I wouldn't expect to be home much. If you moved to a better area it would be much more likely to get home when you want. I live in central NY 45 miles east of Syracuse and I drove for Arnold for 14 months, I was home every weekend except 2 times by my choice so those companies do exist. If you want to stay with a dry van Celadon is a better company or even JB.

Henry. We have worked for Knight twice as we live in Oregon. Once in Portland lastly in Tulare. We prefer expediting. Anyway, Tulare is a great terminal and you will get home. They also have a container shuttle service out of the terminal also. Pay is every day you scan a trip in. good insurance for your family. KC may still be the mgr. there he is a straight shooter.

Once again thanks Melissa,
I spoke with the dispatcher another time. All his answers are exactly what I want to hear. So now I'm getting skeptical. Do you still have a phone number into the Tulare location? I'd like to ask about 11 on and three off, and parking close to home near Salinas. Both things the recruiter said were fine. Do I believe him? You seem to have very positive thoughts about the organization.
Thank you
Henry.
