RE: lookout big cat peeps ..what will
What?
UPS buying Panther?
Someone actually started this conversation again?
Why would UPS want to buy Panther?
Could there be any truth to this developed 'truck stop' rumor?
First, when Panther goes public, the sell of the company will have to win approval from the stock holders.
Those stock holders will be looking for two things in general. (1) the best financial offer and (2) the best business plan to grow the economic stabilty and profit of the company.
Now, a quick look at UPS track record might just tell most stock holders that this would not be the best avenue to pursue if indeed this rumor was to florish into reality.
Afterall, if you recall, UPS fumbled a great deal of their business away in the overnight package delivery business to Fed Ex when they became embattled in a huge labor batter with the union.
Next, they have failed to actually lay out a solid business development plan to build their expedite division, falling well short of their own publicly stated desires.
With just two items on the table I believe any attempt by UPS to acquire Panther would fall on deaf ears. I would hope and believe this is nothing more than truck stop rumors and that Panther would continue to improve, develop and expand their own market share in the expedite industry.
If anything I believe Panther is making certain changes to make themselves more attractive to shareholders and owners of other companies seeking to sell out.
Then again - that is just my thought, I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
