Welcome to the forums! Read through all of the posts and ask questions when you read something you do not understand.

One thing to remember is one company does not fit all and all do not fit one company. Each of us have different requirements that need to met and it is up to you to decide which company will work best to for your specific needs.

Welcome to the forums!

Take your time, read as many past posts as you can. You might want to consider driving for an owner to start. Many come into expediting only to find out that they don't enjoy the lifestyle. I have spoken with several people who jumped from "normal trucking" into expediting and food they did not like all the time spent sitting, waiting for loads.

TeamCaffee is correct, there is no "one size fits all" carrier. We all have different wants and needs. The business is always changing. Many find that a carrier that once fit their needs no longer does.

Well, I sure know something about being a newbie and I run with my wife of 38 years so maybe I can help. (I can't beleive I'm actually helping someone).
Anyway, we broke into expediting 8 months ago with a friend's sprinter van and we absolutley LOVE IT! Now be aware that we are both retired with somewhat meager pensions so we don't absolutley depend on what we make at expediting, but the extra income sure does help! That's VERY, VERY important. But as far as the job itself, we can't wait for the next load so we can see something new everyday. We were lucky enough to hit it off the first time with a great carrier (ON-Dekk Transportation). The lifestyle poses no real problems for us becasue we both retired from transportation so we both kinda' knew what we were doing. I was in your shoes about 8 months ago and I can't tell ya how much the great people on this forum (no smoke or mirrors) have helped us! Just ask and they will bend over backwards to help you. The 2 most important things I learned are 1). DO NOT go head over heels in debt UNTIL you know for sure you are going to like it! and 2). Start driving for a owner or fleet owner before you go into debt. THESE are the two most important things to consider..(IMHO)!
Don't hesitate to ask ANY questions...you can't find any more help anywhere than this forum.
Hope this helps a little..
