Looking for a lease purchase opportunity

I have driven otr and local. I have driven 18 Wheelers and straight trucks. I am trying to find a company that I can do a lease purchase with on a straight truck w/sleeper or dually with trailer. I would prefer the dually and trailer, so if anyone knows of a place it would be very helpful. I would prefer running the south out of the Carolinas. Thanks

I would like top have my own truck. It seemed that every company I worked for would switch me around in different trucks.

I would even work for someone if I could get a dedicated run.

You've placed severe limits on your income by saying you want to run south of the Carolinas and you want to enter a rip off lease purchase, it doesn't sound like you researched much. There are many reasons that lease purchase programs are horrible, if you want to have your own truck then you should get it on your own. Why would you want to put such a huge limit on your income by staying in one area? If you put those things at the top of your list just drive an 18 wheeler and pick one of the companies that have dedicated freight or run regional. You can make good steady money, no O/O issues, health insurance, paid vacation, a 401k, and you get what you wanted.

Talk to drivers who signed onto a Fleese purchase. I have family member that reeped the benefits of a FLEECE purchase own your truck in two years or less.
You know the program where they look out for your best intrest and offer miles but dont deliver, and/or the rate is insanely low, they take your over priced truck payment and insurance out of your settelment to pay for your truck. But the money never makes it to the bank, and when you think you are making your final payment, you are told they havent received dime one, or, your truck gets reposessed, and you get hammered with the loss of tens of thousands of dollars. You will most likely get sued, and end up filing for bankruptcy. Finaly you endure a divorce, If you havent already.
Yeah, sign me up for that.

The safest bet is buy or finance your own equipment. Sign on with a good carrier that can keep you bussy.

Thanks. I really need an opportunity. Tired of these smaller trucking companies telling me that I will have to run two logs if hired

It is well and good that you should wonder. Wonder long and hard about who put the 200,000 miles on that truck. Was it one owner who drove it and then sold it to TST? Did TST buy it new and now, 200,000 miles later this poor orphaned truck is looking for a new owner?

I have never done a lease/purchase but it is my opinion that if you can't secure financing from sources other than a carrier through a lease/purchase, then you aren't financially ready or qualified to become a truck owner.

TST doesnt own or sell these trucks.
They are old Penske rental trucks that where taken out of service by Penske for one reason or another and sold..Not taking anything away from International as they have been building Equipt for a long time, but I think Penske is getting rid em for a reason..Not saying there wont be a good one in the bunch. Crew Cheif is leasing these trucks and if you go thru TST you will stay on with TST untill the truck is paid for or you let it go back..Driver rumor has it that other carriers are jumping on board with this lease to own deal also??? Maybe someone else can chime in on that. It will be intresting to see how long these hold up to over the road use as Im thinking these where set up for city (local) work And alot of that will depend on the operator of course.
Look at what your getting into and have your mechanic look it over.,,keep in mind its also a heavy freight box (FRB) that was cut and had a splice plate of some kind to bring it up to the 13 ft height.. Ya cant get 2 48x48 skids side by side on the truck. Some have been white washed to cover the Penske yellow.
Im not telling one way or the other which route to go,,,But as others said it maybe a good idea to find your own truck and then go to work for them. At least seek out some and find out why they gave them back..

I'm really grateful for your response. This site is full of many many years of experience and it would be foolish if me not to ask for your help. Now if I could just find an owner to work for:)

What bothered me was I can't get any real answers about these trucks.

Was the Q...Can these truck survive the industry?
If so, you could survive in a old volkswagon bus if you could find work for it.. International has been building trucks for a long time,,Penske has been getting rid of trucks for a long time and there are reasons for it..Maybe they dump em before they become money pits??? I dont know why or when they turn their fleet. I never attended one of the auctions but Im thinking they dont sell for alot?? What are they selling for after the conversion??
Maybe these trucks will suit your needs..maybe they wont,,I cant answer if it will work for you..Are you ok with no air-ride, Hyd brakes,, If team operation is your parnter ok with no air-ride in the sleeper,a smaller freight box???
Need more info on your possible lease.Any warranty,,who warrantys it? is it a national warranty or do ya gotta take to Mississauga where they are being converted? Like I said before, Try to dig up some of the ppl that turned em back in and try to figure out why. Find some that are running and find out whats good or bad about them.
I will say in my opion alot of these expite trucks we run including mine the M-2 F/Liner even tho it was set up as an Expite truck from day 1, I dont think they are heavy enought for over the road work as we use em..thats why I say alot will depend on the operator as to how much service ya get out of it and if you yourself can help with maintaining it.

They had one of these at the expo.

My take.

Truck may be suited to just running back and forth across the border. Truck I seen had only a five speed and not suited for a OTR application. The fuel costs would kill you.
No air ride. Not recommended if you have a history of hemorrhoids.
May be over priced? What is the real cost. The version I heard was outrageous.
Better know your CPM before considering one of these.
Interior actually didn't look that bad for a solo.
However..........they must have used 20 tubes of caulk putting on the stand-up/wind deflector.
Bad enough that you could count all five fingers in the caulk job.
