Logbook ink color

I read 395.8 and found all the specifics on what to log, when to log it, when to send it, which direction to hold my tongue while logging but nothing on ink colors acceptable on logs. Does anyone know where the acceptable colors are listed?

when I drove a TT my company stated to use Blue or Black. So there machines could read it. I don't think there is anywhere in to rule book that states color of ink to use. But I would suspect you might get some funny looks from a DOT man if you were use hot pink ink Leo.

leo,Iv'e used both black and blue over rthe years,once I did it in red.I think the scanner works better in black

I'm thinking about using blue as I've got a new pen in the works that will be blue ink and want to use it for everything. I figured it was probably ok in blue at least. I like green for an ink color too but that wouldn't work on company forms. I'm going to be a rebel and switch over to blue.

You know you can just go buy pens at Walmart and Office Depot, lots of places. Even trucks stops carry them.

A fountain pen is what they used to use before ball point pens were available. They were fun to have, even could squirt ink on people, and made a mess if not taken care of.

Now with that said, they still make both cheap and good fountain pens. I have been using Pilot Varsity pens for a long time, haven't bought them in a while because i have maybe 50 of them left and know how to refill them

Oh by the way, some time ago there was a law passed that all documents submitted to the feds or official fed documents were to be signed in blue ink only. Maybe it was just a policy but I know that it was talked about a bit where I used to work when someone sent in an New Drug Application and it got kicked back because the signature was in black ink.

Any one remember quill pens and ink wells?

They were part of the required school supplies when I started school. Had to truge 2 miles in blinding snow storms.

Don't forget the uphill both ways part. I do remember quills but never used one. I did use a Shaeffer fountain pen sometimes in school. I guess once I switch over my signatures will be "legal".

Ah yes , the inkwells . They were great for dipping Suzie's pigtails .

My first job (Stationary Store) was selling and demonstrating Sheaffer Fountian pens. The were about $25.00. It had a little snorkel that would come out and suck up the ink to refill.

Ball point pens had just been invented but they were several hundred dollars.

Blue ink the reason for it is you can tell the difference between the orginal or a copy a copy would be black and white. The same reason the last time i bought a house it had to be blue it's proof of the orginal.

And dont forget...it was up hill coming and going...

I carry a Quill pen now... I love'em...but not the type you are talking about. Mine is made by Quill.

Why not wait till Christmas and see what new colors Crayola comes out with since your properly doing alot of creative coloring in that book anyways..

I Make My Own Pens out of Hardwood so I Can Have My Ink Any Color I Like! But I have Been told By My Company that they Prefer Black Ink so the Scanner Can Pick it Up So I Primarily Make them Black!
