OK, so I finally figured out how to kinda sorta figure out how to fill out the log book for 10 hrs sb, 11- 14 hrs on duty/ driving. But what I havent figured out yet is keeping within the 60/70 hrs/wk rule. I would appreciate some help since I am going to be driving w/ Panther by the end of May - Thanx,

In a nutshell, the rule states that you can have no more than 70 hours on duty within any 8 day period. If you add up your last seven days and the total is 63 hours, then today you have only 7 hours of on duty time available. The new HOS rules have a little bonus built in though... If you have 34 hours of consecutive off duty time, your 70 hours begins fresh again. example - If you have 57 hours on the books for the last 7 days, then you are off duty for 34 hours, your new 7 day total is now 0. You get a fresh 70 hours. I hope this helps, Best wishes - Scott

You will get a pretty extensive tutorial on logs during Panther orientation. Their logsheets are set up well also so you'll see it very clearly just by looking at the logsheet. Ace the test and they give you a nice zip padholder.

Thanx guys :) , Guess it really doesn't matter too much if I can fill it out the way the Gov wants me to. After plugging away on and off for several months doing trip planning, figuring out (or should I say estimating) traffic conditions, la tee da, ad nuasium - it still only figures out to about 8 - 14 hrs of OD time anyways !

But at least I know I am on the right track, and hopefully when I get to Panthers Orientation - I'll be even MORE confused ! (lol)
