Log books in Alabama

I was wondering when logging ever came about in Alabama?I run Alabama,at least once a month and never heard such a thing in a cargo van??? I have been in a cargo van for 116 months now. Is there any other states,I don't know of?The only time I log is running Hazmat.Thanks!!

Iowa used to require any commercial vehicle over 6500#'s.
It's been awhile since we've been in that state.

From what I have heard, they occassionally go on a blitz and go after van drivers as well as little car haulers and rv haulers.

Did they pass out voluntary tax forms(tickets)? Or do they just give you a hard time? How can a state attempt to regulate a federal rule/law, sounds like just more B.S. from state gov. officials to give drivers a hassle for the heck of it.

Kentucky is another state requiring vans to cross the scales.They rarely enforce it.They dont require logs to the best of my understanding.States are free to place more stringent regulations on trucks than the federal regulations,but not less.

I better watch KY. been that way many times(who hasn't?). I always blow right on by scales, well at least when I see the Christmas lights behind me I know they must be bored that day. I'll follow another van so at least we won't be alone. Or just stay in the truck and not worry about the scales(gotta stop anyway). Maybe someday all states will be uniform in regulations cause how can you keep up on all the different rules, especially when they are changed on a whim.

Log Books in Alabama,Mississippi, Lousiana, Arizona, California, Oregon, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, have been required for quite some time, Since all commerical vehicles are required to enter the scale house, Eventually all Commerical vehicles including Vans are going to have to log period, it will come down to it eventually. and will be subject to the HOS rules.
Actually ever since they built that Super Scale on I 20 Westbound about 6 years ago. I know they started building it in 1998.
