Lock Feature Coming to New Qualcomm Units June 1

In order to enhance our information security, a lock feature will be added to the new Qualcomm units starting June 1. You will see a lock icon in the lower left corner of the home screen. Clicking this will lock your screen when you are not in your truck. If the Qualcomm system sits idle for 60 minutes, it will automatically lock.

To unlock the system, you must enter your password. You received this password when you had your unit installed. To access the Qualcomm unit's features (GPS navigation, for example), you will need to unlock the system before you start driving. You will not be able to unlock the system when the vehicle is in motion.

Please note that if your screen backlight is turned all the way off (and you have a black screen), it cannot be adjusted while the unit is locked. It is therefore recommended that you do not turn screen all the way off.

If you have any questions about this, please contact the C-Link team.

We had a phone call on the new feature of the QC this morning as they did not understand the lock. Before we start driving we enter our password and we can see all of the QC features we could before. As a solo I believe everything will stay the same.

What we like about the new feature is that if we are under a sensitive load and someone else gets in the truck they cannot see this information. The same goes for a mechanic getting into the truck as they cannot scroll through the screens.

We have drove off and forgotten about the lock and had to stop so we could see the information we wanted. Once or twice of this and it becomes just like starting your truck, turn the key on and then sign into the QualComm.

The part in bold is in question and as I see from other posts, is creating confusion. We did not receive a password from the installers OR Fed Ex. The passwords we use for the new unit are the same as we use for the VRU system. Perhaps Fed Ex should clear this up.

Dave is aware of the mis-communication and I hope will clarify this in the next weekly email.

I think from the comments we have heard is that some drivers just skimmed through the email and also thought it applied to the old QC.
