Loads to Laredo ??

Just received my own authority for a B unit . I live around Flint , Michigan and am trying to find runs down to Laredo . Already have a weekly return trip set up back to Mi from Laredo if I'm down there . Has anyone had any loads that went down there from Mi , Northern Ohio or Northern Indiana lately or at least in the past few months. Doesn't necessarily have to be van loads because if picked up in a straight truck might also have van load runs . Iv'e been going from business to business asking with no luck . Trying to cut down on waiting time but also above else , with the gas going higher and higher , trying to cut down on deadheading costs . Any reply or suggestions would be much appreciated !! THANK YOU !!!!!!!

*LOL* Advice? keep knocking on doors...I don't think anyone here is going to tell you where their carrier gets loads to Laredo out of...especially for an independent to snatch up. We maybe helpful but not suicidal. :)

Understand where you are coming from OntarioVanMan under normal circumstances . But I here time and time again , with Michigan economy doing so poorly and very little frieght , nobody wants to come here anymore . So , I figure , if I'm here in Mi where nobody wants to be , then I'm not out there in the good frieght lanes - which meens more for you guys and gals . At least , that's the direction that I was chasing . That's my story and I'm sticking to it ( LOL ) . Also , most of the freight isn't just designated to one carrier - it's tossed out there and let's be honest , it's pretty much the luck of the draw .
On a side note - just out of curiosity , why is your name OntarioVanMan when you are from the Dakotas ??

With freight being slow in Mi. I think they would not want to make it one less high mileage run per week.

Get partner agreements with some of the larger carriers. I get the occasional run down there that way. Not a lot, but occasionally. Maybe deadhead over to Chicago. A lot more running out of there these days.

E-1 does quite abit to Laredo..so it's in my best interest to dissuade you from taking my loads...*LOL*

Why Ontario? I am a Canadian transplanted to South Dakota a couple years ago...no iam not a Pedro(illegal)...I am Legal here...:D

E-1 does NOT have a problem getting loads out of Western Michigan...

the only time i was in laredo i sat for three days until a load came available. then that sent me to tulsa where i sat for three days. do a search and read the number of people sitting in laredo. when i was there i had company from 3 ts trucks and 3 p2 trucks and maybe a couple more. there were a few vans and some of them left on their own rather than sith there.

Gee Jack Tulsa from Laredo had to be what 1000 miles? Not bad for 3 day wait, Now question is Tulsa to where? and Miles?

Most of the time Laredo pays off if you have the patience to wait it out...Guess we are lucky with our carrier, 2 days tops to get out....at least for a Sprinter

I've always had good luck out of there, at least recently. I sat three days once, but the last three times I've been there I've gotten back out the same day. The last time it was to Kansas City.

OVM... Laredo to Tulsa,OK is more like 700 miles and I personally wouldn't think waiting 3 days then running 700 miles on day 4 is good. I've got a ST w/ fairly nice sleeper, how do you guys with vans stand sitting that long. The other question I guess would be how many good paying miles got you into Laredo.

Guess I was looking at the big picture during a slow period.
Sitting 3 days isn't that good and I don't sit well neither.

OVM... point taken and you're right. Everything changes when it comes to slow times and i would say this is as slow as i have seen in 4 years of expedite. Possibly the worst economy i have experienced in my adult life. (Early 70's might be comparable to now) I'm still hoping everyone goes out and spends that rebate check although the smart thing would be to pay off debt.

If you want an example of a bad economy, try the Jimmy Carter years. Double-digit unemployment, inflation and interest rates (the misery index). This economy is nowhere near as bad as past true recessions we've had. There's just so many more expediters there's not enough business to support them all. If you're looking for sources of business, automotive is not where it's at right now so Detroit and the MI area are lukewarm at best. It's probably worth the deadhead to Chicago - all kinds of loads coming out of there.

Yeah, just ask Al Capone. He had to deal with the original Revenge of the Syph. Made the IRS troubles look like a common cold.
I thought Seth was the brother that was left with Cain I don't remember reading about Seth getting revenge. :D That's what I get for reading when I am tired.

That MAY be true blacksheep. It's debatable. One thing to remember is, the way gov numbers such as unemployment and inflation are figured now is different than how they were figured in the 70's. Too complicated to explain here, but if you look into it the info is clear. What's not really debatable is Detroit's state of affairs. Agreed, I would rather be in Chicago any day. Indianapolis for that matter. Matter of fact I can name tons of places I'd rather be than Detroit.

I don't know about that state of affairs in Detroit, the mayor had one and so did a few of the council members in their time, so there is something going on in that 'city'.

I too would rather be anywhere than Detroit, and I am thinking that there is more work In Baghdad and more investment going on there than in all of Southeast Michigan.
