Load Or No Load

It's time to play Load Or No Load the fun online game where you the virtual audience gets to decide LOAD OR NO LOAD. Is it a money maker or not?

Hi I'm Moot Mundane your host for tonight's exciting episode. I am suffering from a severe case of P.M.S. (Panther Meltdown Syndrome) today and am eating Midol by the handful. I will try and be a congenial host while we play Load Or No Load.

Okay, here is looooad number 1. Your are sitting in Minneapolis and at 15:05 you get a load offer for a load that is transferring in Fargo, ND which is 221 miles away. The transfer time is 01:30 the following morning. The load delivers at 06:12 in Winnipeg, MB. Total loaded miles 223. Total deadhead miles 221. LOAD OR NO LOAD. You have 15 seconds to decide. Host's super hint: Winnipeg is not a hotbed for expedite freight back to the states. I have delivered there about 70 times and only once did I get a load back. And once I snagged a load just inside the border. I was always paid deadhead back to Minneapolis.

This was offered to me today. I refused it thinking if there was nobody else ignorant or desperate enough to take it they would call me back and we could work something out. I checked the website and find I am still on this load.

15:46 QC message: what would it take to get you to run this. I reply with my price and prepare for going to Winnipeg.

17:30 no reply from dispatch to my offer. I check the website and find I am still under this load. Even after I refused it.

17:31 I put myself out of service.

17:55 Check website, still under load.

18:00 Get call from nice lady. We discuss my terms and she says she will call me right back.

18:10 Nice lady calls back. They have no problem with my terms, but they do have a problem transferring an 850 pound skid. Nice lady says she will work on it and call back.

19:00 I take myself out of service again. Check website and find that I have been taken off load but still in service. Oh well.

I did some further research into this load. It picked up in Nebraska at 09:00 this morning. It was booked Friday afternoon. Don't tell me they didn't have time to arrange for a transfer. I am assuming they had the original driver run it straight through. Total miles was 900+.

So I was locked into a load all afternoon that I never got. And was unavailable for any other loads. I need some more Midol. And thank you for playing Load Or No Load.

Mr. Mundane,

After extensive review of this situation, a few questions come to mind;

1. Why did you accept the load and spend all day sitting around talking to the nice young Lady trying to squeeze a few cents more into the offer. and yes you did accept the load or you would not have been put on it.

2. If you did not want the load, why didn't you go out of service? We all know that you did not try to go out of service because if you had you would be out of service.

3. What is going on here with this load or no load game?
This is a professional business and there is no time to be sitting around playing silly games. We are busy busy busy and do not have time for games.

And by the way, there will be a drug test in your near future. Midol you say, I don't think so!!

Oh yes, one last comment, I'll take what's in box #3.

So was this another one of those cases where you are suddenly shown on the load even though you've never accepted it? Then they just keep you there hoping you'll accept some kind of terms, otherwise they'll hold you hostage on it so you can't have another?

If so, that sucks.........

It's really not like that. Before they send the load offer via the QC the make you "aware" on the load, meaning, they put you on the load in the computer. They do that to prevent another dispatcher from offering the same load to someone else at the same time, which could result in, among other things, you losing a load that you might have otherwise wanted.

Once they put you on the load, "aware", they send it over the QC, and then usually give you a call. When you tell them over the phone that you don't want the load, they usually remove you from the load right away, so that the load can be offered to someone else. Whether you tell them verbally over the phone, or in a QC response, someone must go into the computer and input your refusal and take you off the load. A QC response alone doesn't do it - it's not automatic like the acceptance is, someone must act on your refusal.

If you are on a load and then take yourself out of service, that won't automatically remove you from the load, either. You are on the load, but merely out of service. (sounds like an oxymoron, but it's not, as you can be both)

Morning mypie. Packmule is just having some fun pointing out the ridiculousness of this whole thing. He had me going also. I had to reread it.

(sounds like an oxymoron, but it's not, as you can be both)

I'm not big enough to be an ox but I can qualify as a moron.

So many questions...

Did Moot shave his head, or maybe he was already bald? Is he a phobic that won't shake hands and does the fist bump? Does he use chinchillas instead of smokin' hot models?
