John,
With the heated debate going on in another thread over CSA 2010, does Load-1 or maybe in the future require CSA 2010 awareness training for all contractors?

Yes we will. The new policies are very complicated and keep changing. We have posted a whole section of information posters for our drivers on all 7 of the basics. With the changes announced to cargo securement last week, some of this information is already outdated.

We have tried to sit down and counsel a number of drivers one on one. It is slow and tedious. I spoke with the CEO of Vigillio a few weeks ago and expressed my concerns about how their product could better help with the individual driver. He agreed and they are working on a new revision coming out in a few months. This way we can print monthly reports for each and every driver.

John,
Thanks for the info.

See here is the thing I am getting at when I complain about carriers (in the other thread), there isn't anything new or needed to wait on for the carrier in order to pass the awareness onto the driver (contractor).

The impact to all involved will be the same regardless what changes are being made and as it seems the 'tuning' of the system is understandably the same with any government run program. The aggregate of points for the two parties, carrier and driver, may change through the 'tuning' of the weights of each violation but the regulations that govern those violations will remain the same which is where the gap really is. For example, load securement regulations are not changing at all, we all need to maintain proper securement of the loads as we always have, but now if there is a violation with a load, then it will be part of the reporting through the CSA 2010 regardless. The awareness isn't with the violation points but the prevention of the violation.

I went through the awareness training months ago, the follow up training I got from different places which was about the same and from everything I have read and heard, nothing is different for the driver.

Agreed. We have been training for almost a year on "overall" aspects or concepts as they regard to CSA2010. I was just expressing my frustration with the ever changing elements of it. As well most products we have seen are far more carrier orientated than they are driver orientated.

Documented training is a huge element of CSA 2010. We are setting up and will be launching in cab training in the first quarter of 2011. This will allow us to be quick and nimble with training and allow the driver to complete during his or her downtime.

National average for DOE reported today actually fell. This means next weeks report will probably see a pretty big jump.

I think Nashville wasn't the best move, really...my history will show this area has been my kiss of death...lol...

Hard to say. This area puts TJ as still the closest unit in a radius from you.

We need a nickname for the Load one crew. You guys ever hear of the "whack pack" on the howard stern show? We need to slap a name on this roving band of freight chasers who are so galliantly led by a man who wears "those shorts!" All you guys need now is Steady Eddy and Guido to come on over and your crew will be complete. lol

You guys can roll into Laredo and box other carriers trucks in so they can't make their pick-ups and then you can take their loads from them. You guys can walk into the petro buffet and single handedly scarf up every last crub of edible food like a swarm of locusts. You will be feared nationwide.

The "Whack Pack" is above this group. Please don't group me into that bunch.
