Load 1 website?

I noticed on the Load 1 website today that the "Search for Freight" link under the "Customers" link no longer includes vehicle numbers as part of the information provided. Does anyone know or have an idea why the vehicle numbers have been eliminated?

I naturally thought to do just that but felt that since Load 1 is not my carrier and I'm not a customer they might perceive that i was none of my business. I'm not in the mood for rejection today since I've been sitting here for four days with no load offers after a bad load decision.

In my first courageous act of the week I called operations. They have no idea why. The guy I spoke with says that the vehicle numbers are on the Stylectus board but he has no idea why they are no longer on the website. Curious.

Some of the unit numbers actually indentify a carrier....some carriers don't like that..as they like to keep drivers blind to what is going on around them.

I spoke with a driver from another carrier that also uses the Load 1 website to try and figure out his position within his class of trucks from the Alliance..he said that the unit numbers were gone also..when he asked his carrier about it, he said he was told that the Alliance post that info and that carriers that don't want their o/o's to know that info (his carrier) were complaining to the Alliance and they pulled them...I have no idea if that is true, but thats what he said his carrier told him...

When with E-1 we used the Bolt site.....then E-1 must have requested that their trucks be invisible..we disappeared from sight...

I don't believe Load One is directly involved with posting that info.
That's exactly right - to a point. What you're seeing in a certain area - 50 mile radius of Atlanta for example - is the number of Alliance trucks in that area, and the info comes straight from the Sylectus board. Could be a tad bit misleading for the random customer looking for a Load 1 truck and might not realize this is a listing of trucks from a group of carriers. Showing the unit numbers might reveal this to an educated eye - there must be some sort of filter in the website software that takes them out.

That's exactly what I thought what was going on guys. I had figured out from using the site which of our vehicles were in a particular location. Even though I was doing my best to disguise the fact that I knew who was where for the most part, I think they picked up on the fact that I knew what was going on. I know that it's slow and that there's a lot of cheap freight being carried. It's not necessary that they attempt to deceive in that manner, even though I understand that they must feel that they are having a tough enough time keeping drivers o/o's happy without having to cover themselves regarding who's getting loads and when.

Most carriers want to say that they are Parteners with their O/O's, but there idea of a "partenership is like a mushroom covered in horse "stuff"..they want you as blind to their operations as they can keep you...I am very grateful that John and Load 1 are not in that boat at all....

I'm a little disappointed. The reason I went with my carrier is because they appeared to treat their O/O's like the adults that they are, and for the most part, it has been true. I personally operate more efficiently with as much information as I can get as I'm sure we all do. To approach an O/O in any other manner is not only insulting but unproductive. But I may be over reacting to having to sit. In the final analysis, I had a good year with my carrier last year and the volume now is not that much different than it was this time last year. Yes, those O/O's under carriers that maintain the partnership mentality are fortunate indeed.

We did not make a change on our end. I believe a number of carriers requested Sylectus to not have the unit numbers available to the other carriers. It is not a big secret to us that a lot of other carriers drivers use this tool on our web site and we are fine with it.

See John don't hide anything, this I know for a fact. When my wife and I first met John in his office about two years ago, I threw a lot of questions his way to see if John was all about making money off the contractor in fee's and QC charges. I was shocked to fine out that Load1 drivers are never charged for road taxes as John has never charged his Owner Operators them. John also gives each truck that gets a road side inspection $250.00 if they pass the inspection. No other carrier does this. John also has Load T-shirts made up and sells them for $5.00 which Load1 is selling at cost or a lost.

I think other carriers may not like the fact that Load1 is so driver friendly. :)

What tool are you talking about and how do drivers use it?

On L1's website there is a feature that allows you to search for trucks. You input the city and radius in which you would like to.search

That answers half the question. Thank you.

Now, how do drivers use it?

If I see the area overloaded with trucks the same size as mine, I move.

OK. So let me give this a try.

At the moment, Diane and I are sitting at our Florida vacation house and plan to go back in service very soon. With our small straight truck we can haul small straight truck, Sprinter van and cargo van loads. Since much of what we haul is van loads, it works the other way to. Those trucks can haul what we can, as can the bigger trucks.

At the moment, there are 19 empty units within 100 miles of us. Don't look good. I see little point in deadheading home to Minneapolis to wait for freight there. There are 31 empty trucks waiting there. If by some miracle we got offered a load that took us to a good express center like say Atlanta or Los Angeles, hope gets dashed again because those cities have 130 and 36 trucks respectively. It may be best to decline those offers to avoid getting hung up in a city where there are so many trucks.

We don't have a TV in our truck but have one here in the house. After using this tool, I guess the best thing to do this Friday afternoon is stay here, watch a few rerun episodes of Shipping Wars, and dream of making the big bucks. Then when I get inspired, I should deadhead to Boise Idaho where there is only one truck waiting.

How did I do?
