TSA is Transportation Security Administration, An element of our new Department of Homeland Security.
A Placard removal initiative was likely a knee-jerk reaction to a single incident, or even more likely a mid-level staff member wanting to get recognized for being a progressive thinker. If the latter, he/she should be sent back to the mail room.
Besides, if placards weren't required, how could we recognize in which truck the terrorists were toting their dirty bomb materials.
