TSA is Transportation Security Administration, An element of our new Department of Homeland Security.

A Placard removal initiative was likely a knee-jerk reaction to a single incident, or even more likely a mid-level staff member wanting to get recognized for being a progressive thinker. If the latter, he/she should be sent back to the mail room.

Besides, if placards weren't required, how could we recognize in which truck the terrorists were toting their dirty bomb materials.

Most of the latest truck bomb stories involve people who rent the U-Haul/Ryder rental trucks. World trade center and OKC bombings come to mind.
