Liquid salt

I hope this is in the right forum. My question is does anyone know about a liquid salt that ya apply once or twice a year & it keeps the snow from building up on your driveway?

I thought it was somewhere on this forum that it was discussed. Apparently by applying this the snow on your driveway won't even build up. So for northerners who are gone for awhile, it might be sorta nice to not have 2 feet of snow on your driveway built up when ya return home. From my understanding you can also apply it to the roof of your house. I don't recall if it could be applied to the top of your van. I'm hazy in my recollection of it, but I don't think it has the same properties as actual salt, so putting it on putting it on your vehicle won't rust it out.

Has anyone used this or even know what I'm talking about?

The stuff I have is;

Bare Ground Solutions BGS-1 Liquid Snow & Ice Melt

It works ok, it supposed to last two weeks but we got about a 10 days out of it.

It does stain by the way and you still have to shovel but it isn't as bad.

I use a snow plowing service. I also have the same guy do my lawn work. That way when I am home I can do other stuff and when I am gone the grounds are kept up.

Liquid salt?? never used it or seen it sold anywhere.
Is this made up of chloride or some kinda solution from chloride?
If so I know chloride is very corrosive and I would be a lil worried about putting on the roof or any other place it may cause damage..and like gregg said it will stain.
Concrete crews will use chloride to thaw & prevent freezing of the ground prior to pouring the mud,,Its nasty stuff..
Just a thought before ya go pouring it on your roof :D

Yes , the most common is calcium chloride but a less corrosive calcium magnesium acetate is used in some applications . Airports require the use of Potassium acetate and sodium acetate . In many states before icy weather sets in you can see streaks on the highways where liquid salt was applied .
