not really healthy, but I have made rice and added a can of cream of mushroom or cream of chicken condensed soup, tastes real good. Or just add Cheese to the rice after it is done cooking.

Make sure to cook the rice first before adding stuff in.
Experiment add chicken, broccoli, different spices

The cook function gets hot enough to saute. Warm finishes. So carry a small bottle of canola or olive oil. Saute onions peppers etc then add cut up sausage can of diced tomatoes. Spoon of sugar cup of rice and cup of water. Can add curry or blackened seasoning or cumin. Stir. Close lid. Start on cook mode it will switch to warm. Eat. Wipe out pot with paper towel.

I always carry jasmine rice in truck. It cooks the nicest and smells great. I also carry small cans of cooked chicken. Boullion cubes of cilantro or chipotle are tasty. Try adding raisins or cherries when cooking your rice. Sliverred almonds too. Curry powder rAisins and jasmine rice equal yum yum. Have a jar of chutney in the cabinet.

It isn't just a rice cooker. Cut up Italian sausage. Saute with onions and peppers. You can buy a pound of potato gnocchi for $2.00. Fry that up. Half a pkg. No refridg needed. When all is browned pour spaghetti sauce over all. Heat 5 minutes. Or crumble a pkg of those Chinese soup noodles and add to your sausage etc. Add a little water. Cook a few mins. Then add spaghetti sauce

A little milk, raisins and some cinnamon and you've got rice pudding Mmmmm

I made BBQ ham sandwiches with ours tonight. *drool*

I've made burrito filling with lean beef, taco seasoning, and refried beans in it, as well as the sausage & peppers mentioned above.

I've been thinking about boneless pork chops in onion gravy, with small taters and baby carrots. Will let you know how it comes out.

if you want healthy, make it brown rice instead of white. if you are trying to lose weight a good recipe for the cooker is cabbage, onion, stewed tomatoes, celery, one pkt onion soup mix. this is from an old diet from the sixties. you can eat as much as you like. eat other stuff also as it takes more calories to burn this than you are taking in. good for when you need a filler during the day.

The slow cooker is just that slow! The rice cooker is fast and easy cleanup.

Here is one I like:

I use no oil for this recipe:

Salmon steaks
Season the fish as you like and squeeze a lemon over them after you flip once.
I then use fresh spinach and add several hand fulls on top of the fish.
When the spinach is cooked down you have a meal ready to eat.

After cooking I add water a little dish soap heat up my water and wash pan and all utensils, than rinse.

The rice cooker is fantastic for cooking fish.

Spaghetti:

Bring water to boil in Rice Cooker then cook noodles
Drain noodles and leave in strainer
I like to make home made sauce:
I brown lean turkey meat
add in onions tomato bits
any vegetable I have around and low sodium tomato sauce
along with any of the seasonings I like
I then add the spaghetti back to the sauce and I have a meal ready to eat.

Wash rice cooker as above.

I have found that with Teflon surface I very rarely use oil to cook anything.

The rice cooker does also steam vegetable and I like to cook broccoli and cauliflower in ours often.

In the winter it is fantastic at cooking home made soups using a low sodium broth base and than just add vegetable to taste. I also like to throw some barley in my soup which is good for you and has great flavor.

Have fun with the Rice Cooker and just experiment with it!

I don't know about a Rice cooker, but on a stove Brown rice uses half or less the amount of water then White rice.

Great stuff but it seems to me that maybe this should be in another forum?

Just trying to be consistent with my complaining.

After I make my rice, remove rice, add one can of Mushroom soup and one of can cow. (Wal-Marts in Ohio has this, made by Keystone in Lima), heat and dump-it over your rice.
