Hi Leo Welcome to Landstar. Iam a newbie myself, but so far it's been GREAT. I'm envious of your new trk and I do look forward to seeing it on the road. Ref your liftgate, do what you like, but do it. It is pretty much required for FEMA duty and you don't want to miss that opportunity. I'm on FEMA down in La. right now but when I get back to regular runs, I'll buy the first cup when we run into each. Enjoy the new "big little trk" and a Merrry Christmas to you and yours

I have a lift gate with the platform and side steps to get in. It is extremely handy to climb in and out of the box. My total length with the extension is 39.8feet. I have been measured in NC and FL without any problems and was also told that 40 is the max no matter what. A few years ago some FDXCC units were ticked in NC for over length and FDX paid the fine because they had approved the truck. But by now I am sure that has changed.

For the benefit of the new folks, have her discuss it here. Why keep it a secret?
Same with Leo's truck build. I applaude him for sharing his experience which is beneficial to all.
Funny he didn't feel the need to keep it a "secret" for years on end.
Congrats on your new ride.
