lifetime ban for cell phone violation - PANTHER

Panther has new lifetime ban if you have a cell phone violation even if it was four years ago. Or even before you ever drove a truck or van. Started sept. 2011! So will they fire all their current drivers with past violations? what do you guys think?

Where did you here this? I was there in sept. 2011 and never heard it. Hell the cell phone ban was not in effect until jan 2012.

Sounds like another rumor in the mill.

Yes that's right.....a rumor. I have nothing better to do then write a rumor! Do you want to see email? hey I'm just letting you know what I was told and have written proof....so if your scared, I guess you should be! sorry!

Panther, like a lot of carriers, have lifetime bans for several things.

Such as? Specifics? Maybe lifetime bans have been talked about and I did not pay attention because it is unlikely that I'd ever do anything that would earn a lifetime ban. But I've never heard of lifetime bans for anything. Examples?

The only ones I have heard of is DUI and hitting a bridge. Of course that was years ago. Never heard of anything about a phone ban.

Hitting a bridge usually results in a lifetime ban of some sort sometimes even life itself.

Taking you on with a DUI on your record is one thing, but getting a DUI while leased on with Panther is a whole 'nother thing. So, DUI and overheads, as well as the even more obvious things like going Postal with Dispatchers and other personnel (which is the reason for the magnetic name badges and locked doors at Panther), hijacking or abandoning freight, certain positive drugs tests, committing certain (most) felonies, lots of things can get you a lifetime ban.

Why so defensive? I just stated it sounded like a rumor. I didnt know you heard it first hand and from a recruiter at that.

Why am i scared? I have NO violations to worry about. I'll be back at panther next week anyway.

Hey Bigcat, Well it's an insult to me that I would make up a rumor. I have better things to do. That's ok I understand everyone is stressed out and ready to snap. Or lack of sleep? Or G-string fever? I showed you what I was told. Aren't most rumors true anyway?

A DUI on your record is worse than talking on your phone while driving home from Grandma's house on a Sunday afternoon.

davekc, yes I was told today if you have had a prior cell phone violation (btw four years ago..non-comerrical...in private auto) that Panther would not allow you to lease on to them. Lifetime ban. Sounds stupid to me. I don't drink, don't smoke, never ever tried any drug, not one accident ever and take showers! Can make a sandwich and take a nap while driving!!!!!!!!!!!

Just sounds to me with you joining today and the first post is this. I dont know you nor your credability on this.

Im not ready to snap but I question info ftom someone who doesnt work for the company in question. I mean we only see part of an email from a recruiter stating a ban is placed against violations. It says no where it is a cell violation.

Now you understand why i called a possible rumor. Nothing against you at all so don't feel that way.

I don't know? There were no bans on cell phones four years ago.

I'm not with Panther....besides what's wrong with telling people the truth? Bigcat, I didn't put all personal info in post. Also just because someone is new to sign onto EO does not mean they have not been watching for years. Sounds like you are defensive. Who made you the EO cop? Yes I was told a cell phone violation was a lifetime ban from leasing onto Panther. I'm not sure if some of you don't understand or you can't believe it. I told you I have email as proof. It's a fact. Just wanted to hear if current drivers will get banned too?

James you never said you had an email until AFTER Bigcat said his thing about rumor...so yeah....
and IF you read here for awhile YOU know rumors run rampant around this place...as in truckstop gossip...thanks for posting....and I"am the EO cop........LOL
