My dad has had two strokes in the last year. He is no longer the solid as a rock guy I grew up with. He could be in far worse condition both physically and mentally but then he could be much better as well. He needs help with things he never needed help with in the past. He also won't be around forever as much as that used to be taken for granted and hoped for.

To allow more time to help him and enjoy time together while we can I am changing a few activities, one being moderating here at EO. Those with more available time can have that fun.

Sorry to hear about your dad, I lost my father emotionally to his battle with alcoholism before I was old enough to remember and lost him physically a few years ago. I was always envious of guys like you that had a strong bond with their father.

There is no more noble deed than to take care of one's mother and/or father when the need arises.

LEO, you are doing the right thing. Our Mother's and Father's are from day 1 the most influential people in our lives. Cherish the time you get to spend with him. I never had the chance to know my father man-to-man, he passed away when I was 18. You are a man among men for what you are doing. Prayers to your father, to you, and your family. Enjoy! :)

Leo: please give your Dad a hug from me, too - I enjoyed meeting him, after hearing you write about him over the years.
Having the time to spend with our loved ones when they need us [and we need them too!] is a blessing, and I'm glad you can be there for him.

Leo, you were the first person to talk to me at the very first driver orientation I attended back in October of 2006. The Sterling was brand new and you were prepping it for the road at the HQ of The Twin Dark Kitties.

I agree with everyone that this is an important time to be close to your Dad. I had worked with my father for years, but really became close to him for the two years he lived beyond the premature death of my oldest brother.

I'm grateful for being able to spend a lot of time with my Mom in the intervening twenty-five years. She passed away in late March at age 97 and I'll never regret the relationship she and I had, even though I 'sacrificed' time and money to maintain it.

Best wishes, Tim

Leo spend as time as can with him and my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

Me and my father hasn't never been close but back in August 2010 when I had my first episode with heart problems I saw him for the first time ever cry. It's a long story. But we are closer now since we both gotten older.

I hope that ya'll spend alotta time together and do the father and son things that ya'll never did do.God bless ya'll.

I lost my dad to stroke complications 11 years ago. I had time with him and I am glad I did. Enjoy your time with him.
