Life Changes II

My dad passed away this morning. He was at home with loved ones. I am thankful he didn't suffer greatly and didn't have to spend a very very long time with such a poor quality of life. It was only several months ago he was riding along all over the country. From that it went to the last few days where he couldn't stand up because his legs were too weak.

I really appreciate the many thoughts and prayers and encouragement of so many of you. There are a whole lot of good people in this community and many good friends. I especially appreciate the several donkey holes who had so many negative and ugly things to say. Such fine people. Their mothers must be so proud of them. Then again, at least some of them may have mothers who regret producing what comes out of donkey holes.

I'm very sorry to hear that Leo. Based on your past comments regarding your Fathers condition, he is now at peace and in a better place. You and your family will be in our thoughts.

Thank you. As sad as it is it's even better that he's not suffering and now he has a perfect quality of life again. He got to meet and know quite a few of my expediting friends and if I went more than a few days without mentioning them would ask me what they were up to and where they were.

Death is nothing at all
Canon Henry Scott-Hamilton

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Thank you to all for the thoughts and prayers. It majorly sucks but the other side of that is that only the container that housed my dad is gone. My dad is still just as alive and vibrant as always and he always will be. I will miss him greatly in not having our long talks and debates but I will always have him and those. He knew how very much I loved and respected him and I know how much he loved me. Again, thank you to all for the public and the private thoughts and messages.

Sorry to hear of your dads passing, but so thankful you were able to spend that time with him. Something I am sure you will cherish always. We often take the people we live for granted, and before you know it, they can be snatched away. Keeping him in your heart is all you can do now, but memories will keep him alive forever.

Oh, Leo, I'm so sorry you had to say good bye. It was a blessing that you were able to surround him with love in his last days. Those of us that met him will miss seeing him at the Expo this year.
